New village sign, Glinton
The new village sign was unveiled by the parish council on May 8th, 2025, during an act of commemoration for the eightieth anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day, marking the end of the Second World War in Europe. Located on the village green and designed by Patricia King of Glinton Art Group, it depicts a medieval ploughing scene in front of St. Benedict's church (in the background on the photograph), the 17th century Manor House and Roman remains at Carr Dyke. The inscription on the sign refers to the fact that Glinton was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086.
The new sign replaces the previous sign situated at the junction of Lincoln Road, High Street and Helpston Road which was erected by the Women's Institute to mark Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee in 1977. The old sign, which was in need of refurbishment, was donated to Peakirk-cum-Glinton Church of England Primary School: TF1505 : Village sign, Glinton
