Racecourse Colliery, Black Country Living Museum
A light dusting of snow, covering the train tracks and the coal in the wagons, made the quiet corner of the museum dedicated to a recreated colliery hugely atmospheric. The pretend colliery's name comes from the fact that in the eighteenth century this was the site of the Earl of Dudley's private racecourse.
