The 1885 OS map, the earliest I have access to, appears to show the buildings. 18 was previously Carousel Candys and 20 The Ice Cream Shop until at least 2011 when Carousel Amusements (initially in 22 and 24) took over 20 and 18 then became The Ice Cream Shop (later Aloha Ices). No.20's shop front was altered in 1997. J S P Leisure Ltd (Carousel) was incorporated in December 1999 at no.24. Just prior to this at no.20 planning approved change of use from an ice cream shop to amusements, although photographic evidence suggests this was not done until after 2011. Planning for no.18 includes: August 1981 extension to shop premises, in 1986 an external staircase to access the existing flat above and in 1991 a new shop front. Looking at planning for nos.22 and 24, variation of Sunday opening hours was refused in 1983; No.22 had shop front alterations in 1987; 22-24 had internal alterations in 1989; 1994 the condition to have self-closing doors was removed; application for change of use from ice cream shop to amusements and roofing over the yard was withdrawn in 1998.
