The 8th stage of the Tour of Britain Cycle Race 2019 passed through Gee Cross. Crowds lined Stockport Road (A560) waiting for the tour to descend Joel Lane having climbed Werneth Low. Someone in a flat above one of the shops was watching the tour on TV and was telling the crowd how far away the race was.
