SP9211 : Seat with Purple Poppies in Dolphin Square, Tring
taken 7 years ago, near to Tring, Hertfordshire, England

Seat with Purple Poppies in Dolphin Square, Tring
The seat backs onto the butcher's shop - with Specsavers in the distance.
The label on the seat reads
WE REMEMBER TODAY, AND ALWAYS, ALL THOSE WHO SERVED IN WAR
The reason we traditionally wear red poppies is not to glorify war but to remember, with humility, the great and ultimate sacrifices that were made by so many, to ensure the liberty we now enjoy.
With our white poppies (SP9211 : Seat with White Poppies in Dolphin Square, Tring) we add the hope for a lasting peace that war is never needed again.
Finally, with our purple poppies we remember the millions of animals who served bravely with, and for, our troops.
Our blankets have 116 poppies, of these colours, to pay tribute to all 116 men from Tring and the surrounding villages who died in the First World War.
