Since, two days previously, there had been enough rain (four inches or so) to close the Fort William main road for over 24 hours owing to a big landslide, it was no surprise to find that the lake-fed river was still pretty high and quite pushy for grade 3 in places. But between the bigger rapids was lots of easy water, the only danger on this section being the fact that the high water was in the bankside trees, possibly with less visible low branches trailing in the water waiting to pin the unwary.
