The sign on the left is an old Pre-Worboys town sign. This type of sign was at the entrance to the town/village. The place name at the top shows the distance to the next (main) place. The place name at the bottom shows the distance from the previous (main) place. From the information on the sign, we can see that the original location for the sign was at the southern entrance to the village on Whinburgh Road (B1135).
