The last surviving Foden Showman's Engine
WR 6985 (Prospector) is a Foden's 8nhp steam road locomotive built in 1910 for W. Shaw and Sons of Sheffield with whom it travelled the Yorkshire fairgrounds all its working showland life until 1939 when it was purchased for preservation by Dr Dyke of Cornwall. Foden only built ten Showman's Engines and WR 6985 is the only known survivor. It was later owned by Frank Lythgoe of Lymm and is now under the care of M J Wilkinson of Blackpool.
