Bus interchange, Llandrindod Wells
A bus to Hereford awaits departure outside Llandrindod railway station. Devolution of transport powers to the Welsh Government in Cardiff in 1997 led rapidly to a huge increase in the provision of local bus service in mid Wales. This has led to the improvements shown in this photo outside the railway station, including Kassel boarding kerbs on both sides. Most services use the stop where the Hereford bus waits, or the small station forecourt to the right. The stop on the left is used by the southbound long-distance regional service from Cardiff to Newtown.
The almost hourly service to Hereford, 40 miles distant, is perhaps the longest route in Wales running at such a high frequency.
