Postbox LL30 9
A cipher-less postbox on North Parade. Boxes manufactured by the Handyside & Co between 1879 and 1887 omitted the 'VR' cipher from the front. The positioning of the aperture implies that this box dates from 1883 onwards, earlier ones having the aperture positioned higher up.
It has been cleaned and repainted since Mark Anderson photographed it in June 2013 SH7882 : Anonymous Postbox, North Parade, Chris Downer in August 2013 SH7882 : Llandudno: postbox № LL30 9, North Parade and Ian Capper in September 2013 SH7882 : "Anonymous" postbox, North Parade.

Anonymous postboxes
The cylindrical design of pillar boxes arrived in 1879. Boxes manufactured by Handyside & Co between 1879 and 1887 omitted the 'VR' cypher from the front and are known as 'anonymous' boxes. The early ones up to 1883 had the aperture near the top of the box. Later ones positioned it lower down. This cypher oversight was corrected from 1887.
