taken 14 years ago, 3 km from Balcombe, West Sussex, England

Wakehurst Place: ornamental seat
Wakehurst Place: ornamental seat
This seat is located in the collection of American trees and illustrates a Native American folktale, of mice trying to escape a forest fire who eventually found shelter in the fire-resistant Douglas Fir. Near it is a counterpart sculpture depicting a leaping salmon (see TQ3331 : Wakehurst Place: sculpture).
