Thames Barrier We could have had one of those subtle and well built in rock fragments freely available UK near to the Severn as a filter tidal control to prevent flooding and a small dock entrance for large Ocean ships even Tourists only somebody wanted to fill in the decent sands with rubbish to make a Bigger Bristol and the silt study DI Smith R Washington Brookes and ICI all left Fisons then the coal which came back and thousands of cars Basically PBA went bankrupt and was paid for by City Ratepayers The Timber went from Portishead CEGB left Liverpool closed But there is a need at Solent two in Scotland Lake District One at Wash and Severn has Lias Clay and Oxford Clay slip in the bottom so an anchor base would be needed Drilled I see no reason to dump tonnes of concrete in the estuary This is not Normandy 1944 Eisenhower Low level barriers are useful but not for rubbish dump nor sewage Nuclear has worked endlessly to Quash the Hydro electric programme Time to end the nonsense and make a decent Civil Engineering Designed Lake Not a political one for London
