At the northern boundary of the inclosure; an unusual sight in the New Forest, where most inclosure boundaries are marked by gates.

Looking upstream. The Cutting is here blocked off by the clay plug upon which this pump is sitting. The pump is therefore needed to empty this part of the cutting prior to filling it in.
