Mountsorrel Quarry is the largest granite quarry in Europe and there has been a quarry here since the late 18th century. My great great grandfather was the quarry manager at the beginning of the 20th century.

The bridge was part of a private rail network used to carry granite for the Mountsorrel Granite Company.
