The Aylestone Meadows is the largest nature reserve in the city of Leicester, it is situated on the floodplains of the River Soar and River Biam.
The flooding has been caused by the River Biam bursting its banks.

Aylestone Road Gas Works
Seen from the Great Central Way. The first gas holder was built here in 1878 and gas was produced until 1969. The site is now used for the compression of North Sea Gas for onward transmission.
