Some of the other slate tips in the area have been removed and used to fill quarry-holes. In the foreground is a car parking area with a memorial to the quarrymen. Slate production ceased in 1969.

The quarry has become a haven for rock climbers now that it is no longer worked. A feature of climbing the slate is that handholds are very small.
