On these steep hillsides there are occasional relatively level shelves part-way up that have been cultivated to make pasture. The valley is Rams Clough. The turning circle (car park) at the end of Binn Lane can justbe seen to the upper right.

The frothy, brown water racing along the stone-lined channel on Binn Moor was obviously no ordinary mountain stream. It seems to be pumped up from the reservoirs in the valley below to Deer Hill Reservoir on top.

On the right is the lower end of the trench shown in SE0510 : Trench on the moor, Hind Hill, Marsden. As it curves to the left it appears to become a natural valley, complete with cotton-grass. Shooter's nab is in the distance, and the quarry spoil heaps can be seen.
