The cliff line here is being actively eroded by the sea which comes in up the base of the cliffs at high tide. Magnesian limestone is overlaid with very unstable sand and mud.

Looking southeast from the car park above the mouth of Seaham Dene, towards Featherbed Rocks and Seaham harbour. None of the groynes seem to exist anymore.
