SX7778 : Ride, Yarner Wood by Guy Wareham Ride, Yarner Wood
The same as SX7778 : Ride, Yarner Wood but taken in December.
SX7778 : Gateway into Yarner Wood by Graham Horn Gateway into Yarner Wood
I am not exactly clear where this is along the bridleway. There is evidence of an old gateway here, but this is really not a suitable place to try and get into the woodland, a National Nature Reserve.
SX7778 : Forest access track in Yarner Wood by David Smith Forest access track in Yarner Wood
SX7778 : Yarner Wood by Derek Harper Yarner Wood
Sunlight filters through oak trees at a point in the centre of the nature reserve. The woodland floor has bracken and bilberry. One of the main north-south paths, crossing between the two valleys, is on the right.
SX7778 : Field above Yarner Wood by Derek Harper Field above Yarner Wood
Taken from close to SX7778 : Edge of Haytor Down, with the field boundary in the foreground, looking to the left across the in-country on the east side of Dartmoor.
SX7778 : Path in Yarner Wood by jeff collins Path in Yarner Wood
There are many of these small paths cutting through the woodland.
SX7778 : Bridleway alongside Yarner Wood by Graham Horn Bridleway alongside Yarner Wood
The extensive woodland to the left, although access land, is not easily accessible from here. This bridleway runs along its northern boundary, and the whole area is a National Nature Reserve.
SX7778 : Daffodils in Yarner Wood nature reserve by jeff collins Daffodils in Yarner Wood nature reserve
Not wild, I think planted by someone because they had double rows of petals and taller than the wild ones normally seen in woodland especially up the Teign Valley at Dunsford.
SX7778 : Bare winter trees by footpath in Yarner Wood by David Smith Bare winter trees by footpath in Yarner Wood
SX7778 : Edge of Haytor Down by Derek Harper Edge of Haytor Down
A walled bank with beeches on top forms the boundary between open moor and enclosed fields. Across the field below is Yarner Wood, with Bovey Tracey in the distance.
SX7778 : Yarner Wood by Derek Harper Yarner Wood
Looking south-east across the northern of the two valleys that cross this square, which is almost entirely filled by the western part of Yarner Wood nature reserve.
SX7778 : Butterfly, Yarner Wood by Derek Harper Butterfly, Yarner Wood
A Gatekeeper (Pyronia tithonus) on ling (Calluna vulgaris) in an open spot by a track junction on the northern slopes of the Yarner Stream valley.
