Council is the governing body of the municipal corporation and, in accordance with the Municipal Government Act (MGA), is assigned powers, duties and functions. Council can exercise their powers either by bylaw or resolution passed at a regular or special meeting when a quorum is present.
The Town Council is a continuing body, notwithstanding changes of members, through the election process every four years.
Council is responsible for establishing policy directions, monitoring and evaluating the implementation of programs, and authorizing the revenue collection and expenditures required to fund the Town's operations.

Mayor Brent Feyter
Mayor Brent Feyter
I was raised in Fort Macleod and was involved in various local youth sports and activities. Since graduating in 1997, I have worked at a few local businesses, primarily with our family business, Structural Truss Systems and Forma Steel, leading and helping grow the family companies. My wife, Janey, is a stay-at-home mom and a great champion for me and our six children, Micah, Sherayah, Levi, Emalee, Maelle and Ezra.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, being challenged by those who have attained goals and challenges seemingly impossible and spending time with our family.
In living, learning and being challenged by others, I have grown to appreciate the community's significant role in the development of the family and the success of a business. To me, a community is a place where people are excited about living and working, where we trust each other, celebrate the successes of our fellow citizens and pull together when things get tough.
Councillor Fox was born and raised on a farm just south of Fort Macleod. She currently operates a janitorial business, and with her husband, owns and operates Silver Automotive. When Christina isn’t working, she likes travelling and camping with her husband, George, and their three kids. Christina was already an active community member before she joined Council, serving on many boards and volunteering for events
Councillor Monteith is in his third term on Council. He practiced as a chartered accountant in Fort Macleod for 30 years before he retired. Now Jim and his wife Sue spend time with their two grandchildren, curling in the winter and golfing in the summer. Jim has been a member of the Rotary Club for over 40 years and is now the President. Jim has also retired from coaching but was a fundamental part of building the baseball community in Fort Macleod throughout the years. He is a firm believer in community and giving back.
Jeemeet Patel was first elected to the Fort Macleod Town Council in 2024 and was re-elected to serve a full four-year term in October 2025. Professionally, Jeemeet brings a wealth of expertise to the Council table. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Electronic Business and is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®). With over a decade of experience in the financial services industry, he provides a valuable perspective on municipal budgeting, fiscal responsibility, and strategic economic growth.
Jeemeet is a strong advocate for transparent governance and is committed to ensuring that Town services and infrastructure meet the needs of all residents.
