Saving girls from traffickers on the India-Nepal border

There is no official count of how many people migrate annually, as India and Nepal have shared an open border since 1950. But the border is a hotspot for human trafficking. NGOs and security authorities in both countries work together to save women and children and return them home.

The UN’s crime agency, the UNODC, estimates that in South Asia alone, human trafficking generates $52 billion in annual illegal profits.
