The Island Savoyards' big half term show at Shanklin Theatre on the Isle of Wight has been postponed - less a month before curtain up.

The local theatre company's production of The Addams Family, which was due to run from October 22 to October 25, will now not go ahead on the scheduled dates.

The company said it made the 'extremely difficult' decision after 'careful consideration of the circumstances surrounding the production.'

The Island Savoyards told customers to contact Shanklin Theatre directly about refunds and ticketing queries.

In a statement, the theatre company said: "This has been an extremely difficult decision, made after careful consideration of the circumstances surrounding the production.

"We are incredibly grateful to everyone involved in the show, and to everyone who has supported us by booking tickets, sharing our posts and supporting The Island Savoyards.

"Thank you for your understanding and continued support."

The Island Savoyards have been entertaining theatregoers for more than 50 years, with the County Press reviewing many of its shows over the decades.

Recent shows have included The Great British Bake Off Musical, Annie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Anything Goes.
