CELEBRITY soap stars, TV reality stars and former professional footballers will descend on the Isle of Wight this weekend for a charity football match in aid of Mountbatten.

Sellebrity Soccer has organised the friendly match at Westwood Park, the home of Cowes Sports FC, to be held on Sunday, with a 3pm kick-off and funds raised going towards supporting Mountbatten's work with Island families.

Among those due to appear is television personality Calum Best, the son of football legend George Best, alongside former TOWIE star Dan Osborne, EastEnders actor Ricky Groves, Love Island contestant Tommy Murphy and a host of celebrities from Married at First Sight.

Speaking to the County Press ahead of the match, Calum said he was proud to be supporting the Island hospice.

"I play with Sellebrity Soccer most weeks and what makes it even better is raising vital funds and awareness at the same time," he said.

Mountbatten provides hospice and end-of-life care for people across the Isle of Wight, and Calum said events such as Sunday's fixture can make a real difference.

"I really feel honoured to be supporting Mountbatten and helping raise funds and awareness," he added.

"Events like this will hopefully make a huge difference to supporting the hospice and families on the Island."

Calum also highlighted football's ability to unite communities and create lasting memories.

"Football really does bring the community together — whether they're football fans, or families that may not usually follow the sport," he said.

"They will get to see TV and music stars close up at the match and enjoy a great atmosphere and memories at the same time."

He urged Islanders to turn out and support the event.

"Please come and support what will be a fantastic family day out, with music and football all together, while supporting a great cause close to the Island's hearts," he said.

Other celebrities currently confirmed include internet personality Cal the Dragon, former AFC Wimbledon player Kevin Cooper, boxer Liam Carey, actor Joe Jackson and reality television stars Georges Bertheounnau, Dean Vary, John Shepherd, Reuben Collins, Orson Nurse, Stephen Springett and Ben Jardine.

Doors open at 1.30pm, while VIP ticket holders can attend a pre-match meet-and-greet with at least ten celebrity players from 12.45pm.

A special two-for-one ticket offer is available today (Friday), with standard tickets priced at £12, plus booking fee. VIP tickets cost £25.

Celebrity appearances remain subject to work commitments, say organisers.
