A new Isle of Wight nursery is putting the finishing touches to its premises before opening next week.

Little Bulbs Childcare, based at Langbridge Business Centre in Newchurch, will welcome children from September 1 after months of work by owners Michelle Reeves and Samantha Hunnybun.

The pair have nearly 20 years’ combined experience in early-years settings and have transformed the premises into a nursery with indoor and outdoor play areas.

After a successful open day in June, Michelle and Sam are putting the finishing touches to the nursery before its ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 30.

The nursery aims to give children a warm, nurturing place to learn and grow, with play at the heart of its approach.

Children will explore at their own pace through activities designed to build curiosity, creativity and confidence, while staff focus on their emotional wellbeing and development.

Michelle, the nursery’s manager, has worked in several early-years settings and said opening her own nursery had long been her ambition.

She said: “Opening my own nursery has always been a dream of mine.

“I have always aspired to create a setting that truly reflects my values and beliefs about early childhood education.

“I believe that play is fundamental to a child’s development, encouraging curiosity, building confidence, fostering creativity, and supporting social and emotional growth.

“By providing rich, engaging experiences and opportunities for exploration, we aim to give children the very best start in life.”

Michelle said she was grateful to be realising her ambition with Sam after they spent years working together.

She added: “We have built a strong professional relationship based on trust, shared values, and a mutual commitment to delivering the highest standards of care and education.

“Together, we are dedicated to building a nursery that feels like a true home-from-home environment.”

Sam, who will serve as deputy manager at Little Bulbs, has previously worked in nurseries, as a nanny and as a baby room practitioner.

She also believes in learning through play and creating a supportive environment where children can explore and build confidence.

Sam said: “I’m passionate about supporting children as they learn and grow, and I find real joy in watching their development unfold.

“Michelle and I have always worked so well together, and I look forward to being able to continue to do so in this exciting new venture!”

Little Bulbs Childcare will open on Tuesday, September 1.
