Wales beat Ireland to keep World Cup hope alive

Welsh Feathers kept alive their Netball World Cup qualification hopes with a comfortable 76-33 win over the Republic of Ireland.

With the top two sides in a four-team qualification tournament - which also includes Scotland and Northern Ireland - heading to next year's World Cup in Sydney, Wales had to win here after a shock defeat by Warriors in their opening game.

Wales dominated from the off, and the game really got away from Ireland when they conceded nine unanswered goals to start the second quarter, and found themselves 12-41 down by half-time.

And though the Emeralds improved after the midway point, they left themselves with too great a gap to close, and failed to outscore Wales in any quarter.

Wales now face a decisive final match of the qualifiers against event hosts Scotland.

They claimed a second group win by beating Northern Ireland 67-43 following victory over Republic of Ireland on Friday.
