A 91-year-old man has died after the car he was driving left the road and ended up in a shallow ditch in North Yorkshire.

Emergency services were called to a single-vehicle crash involving a grey Volvo XC60 between Little Edstone and Marton, near Kirkbymoorside, at about 17:00 BST on Tuesday.

North Yorkshire Police said the collision may have resulted from a medical episode. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's family was being supported by police while the investigation continued, a force spokesperson said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant dashcam footage is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police.
