James Roach, director of primary care and local care at NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight, said: "GP practices across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight are delivering more appointments than ever before, including hundreds of thousands of additional GP and same-day appointments.
"Face-to-face appointments remain an important part of general practice, alongside telephone and online consultations.
"General practice is also evolving. GPs remain central to the care practices provide, but they are now supported by a much wider team of skilled professionals.
"These integrated teams are a foundation for neighbourhood health.
"We know there is more to do to improve people’s experience of accessing care, but these figures show the significant progress being made by practices in responding to growing demand."
