InstaVolt has announced its latest electric vehicle (EV) superhub in Chicklade, Wiltshire, located on the A303 and featuring 30 ultra-rapid 240kW chargers.

The site will be one of the largest and fastest charging hubs in the UK and aims to serve commuters, holidaymakers and local drivers.

Delvin Lane, chief executive officer of InstaVolt, said: "Our customers told us what they want from a charging stop, and Chicklade is the answer.

"It gives families, holidaymakers and local drivers somewhere they'll actually want to pull in, with great food, a shop with local produce worth browsing and fast, reliable charging waiting outside.

"It's the kind of stop we think every driver deserves."

The site, built for the move to electric but designed for today, will be open to every driver on the A303.

It will offer food, shopping and charging facilities for those travelling between London and the South West.

Chicklade has been designed for its busiest days, from regular commuters to weekend getaways and summer holiday traffic heading to and from the West Country.

A key feature of the hub is Chickpea Provisions, a new food and retail outlet operated by the Salisbury-based Chickpea Group.

Open from 6am to 10pm, it will serve everything from breakfast on the way to the coast to a late bite on the way home.

Toilets and charging will be open 24 hours a day.

Ethan Davids, co-founder and CEO of Chickpea Group, said: "We are excited to be opening Chickpea Provisions next year and relish the prospect of being able to creatively grow our business and our footprint in the West Country."

The Chicklade Superhub is following in the footsteps of InstaVolt’s Winchester Superhub, which opened in March 2025.

Similarly, the hub will combine on-site solar panels with battery storage to optimise energy use.

The system combines energy generated on-site with power taken from the grid during quieter periods to be released when demand peaks. This provides drivers with consistent ultra-rapid charging even at the busiest times of day, while allowing InstaVolt to offer the best value for its customers.

As with all InstaVolt locations, drivers can pay using a contactless card.

For even better value and other rewards, including off-peak rates between 8pm and 7am, drivers can pay through the free InstaVolt app, with no subscription needed, or an RFID card.

The A303 is a vital route connecting London with Somerset, Devon, and Cornwall.
