Character
Character Name: Lucia Bolido, but she bears a rather striking resemblance to Twilight Sparkle.
Canon: Lucia is an AU version of Twilight Sparkle from a JRPG take on My Little Pony. She also has CRAU from My Little Jamjar from December 2013 to it's ending.
Canon Point: While she's technically just from post-Nightmare Moon in her world (and isn't an Alicorn or equivalent), she's been brought up to speed with the canon up to Friendship Games because of that whole nasty business with Calice.
Type: AU Twilight Sparkle.
Age: Lucia is of late college age (as I assume Twilight Sparkle is), with the equivalent of a BA in Magic and Theology (and Friendship).

History/Key Points: Stop me if you've heard the one about the sun goddess and the moon goddess before, or about a group of six brave heroines proving they were the paragons of Honesty, Loyalty, Generosity, Kindness, Laughter and of Friendship Itself to save that Moon Goddess from her durance vile.

Lucia Bolido was, of course, that paragon of Friendship and Magic. The Wizard of Harmony, champion of the united Principalities of Caelestia, personally tutored by the Princess Appolyta herself, and who personally set out to purge the Diana Artemisia of the evil power of the Nightmare, the Starless Night, who was called Noxia.

Oh, and she was human. From totally not Spain, for that matter.

It's pretty surprising how little else changed, given that. The local Blueblood was a Baron, because all barons are required by Fantasy Law to be assholes, but that and the presence of two adorkable, male members of the Queensguard with blue hair from the beginning of her adventure is about all.

However! At some point in her history, Lucia stepped through a mirror and ended up landing in a land of magical ponies in a blast of rainbows - the game 'My Little Jamjar.' This land of 'Equestria' had a history that totally did not resemble her own world, what are you talking about, up until the point where it came under attack by a being claiming to be a Pony of the Apocalypse - the Pale Pony, who was Death; the Calice. Yet another evil Twilight Sparkle from a bad future, what are you going to do?

She aided the ponies of that world, made new friends, fell in love with one of the local Pinkie Pies, set up a magic shop, and quietly supported the local Bearers and those from other worlds in their own personal quests to rescue the world from the Corruption taking hold of it. Ever since that world opened up to dimensional travel she's gone back and forth between that world and her own.

Until she found the hole to Waverly Bay, and like any good adventurer she leapt in.

Personality: She's essentially the Twilight Sparkle you know and love, although she's a bit more serious in demeanor than the canon one. While her natural tendency is towards introversion and introspection - to the point where she has forgotten to take meals until Spike placed a plate of bread and butter in front of her - she loves to learn. She'll speak (and listen!) with great enthusiasm on the technical aspects of anything while asking relevant questions, and writing down the answers in her personal grimoire.

Like the original Twilight, she's prone to panic attacks - particuarly if she feels like she's going to make herself look unintelligent or disorganized in front of people she respects. She is compulsively organized and neat: she's a planner and a thinker. This doesn't mean she won't do things, but learning to leap even after looking was a challenge for her. Her world's Rainbow Dash, Applejack and ESPECIALLY Pinkie Pie were instrumental in teaching her when to listen to her intuition, go with the flow, and act without conscious thought - lessons that have saved her life when it was in peril before. Still trying to figure out the thaumaturgical underpinning of the Pinkie Sense, though.

Her thinking is logically rigorous and rational, although her common sense suffers a little bit; she is happiest with puzzes she can quantify, deduce, or induce the solutions to. Her majors were, naturally, Evocation - the sudden and violent channeling of elemental magical energies - and Thaumaturgy, the long slow boring mathematical way of doing magic that connects times, spaces and worlds.

Yes, worlds: she's studied interdimensional theory and was planning for her final exam to send and expedition into the Gate of Reflected Worlds, a powerful artifact located in the palace of her world's Crystal Empire that appears to be a great mirror reflecaaaaaaaand the punchline is that it's basically the mirror in Equestria Girls. She grokked other dimensions before she went to MLJJ, and will have no trouble with it (or canon puncture, for that matter) in Waverly Bay.

(CR)AU Information

AU Personality Changes:
Lucia is from a quasi-Middle Ages, cosmopolitan high fantasy world designed around JRPG tropes and sometimes acts and thinks accordingly (sometimes with the words 'I am looking for a group of adventurers to accompany me on a quest.') This will likely amuse the gamers in Cosmo greatly. Naturally, she was the black mage of the group, although she prefers the term 'Evoker.'

Her English is of the Early Modern variety. This doesn't mean that she'll throw around Thee's and Thou's willy-nilly, however; she will reserve that intimate form of address for her closest friends and most trusted mentors. If she uses the thou form in speaking to you, 'tis a Pretty Big Deal.

The Six Virtues have a sort of religious significance in her world, the way that the Seven Holies (and Seven Deadly Sins) do in ours. Lucia likes to think she's smarter than that. She's wrong, and is perhaps more mystical about them than Twilight Sparkle would be.

AU History Changes: The tech level of Equestria in canon was schizo-tech, with modern technology when it suited a punchline and something like the early industrial revolution at other times. Her world? The middle ages, with Renaissance tech when it suits the plot. Lucia will not recognize many common items of technology, though she will be a fast learner.

Other AU Changes: Everyone got introduced to Shining Armor, Cadence, and Flash Sentry early because I'm still salty about A Canterlot Wedding and/or Equestria Girls. The equivalent of Sunset (Aurora Marisol) was the lieutenant of the Big Bad, and their Trixie (PATRICIA TRISMEGUSTOS!!!), along with Snips and Snails, the Recurring Joke Midbosses. This resulted in much less mangling of their canon personality than you'd think, mostly because it's funny.

Gem: Amythest, the gem of magical power and spiritual enlightenment. Specifically, their horn is a spiral-grooved cone of amythest, and they have it even in human form.

Power Considerations:
Her freebie weapon is shooting magic missiles out of her horn - glowing purple Star Bolts. She'll regain her other elemental evocation spells with time and experience. At moderator request, her freebie weapon will instead be a Mage's Staff, and her evocation a regain.

She prefers two forms; pony and human. Her icons closely resemble her human form as I imagine them.

The powers I'd want her to have are:

1: Telekinesis.
2: Mage Sight: the ability to perceive patterns of force, gem tech circuitry, and the tells of power use. She would use it to analyze the underpinnings of magic and their theoretical working. This does mean that she'll be Megamanning/learning new spells as an excuse to learn baroque powers when she gets power unlocks.
3: Line-of-sight Teleportation.

Extra: I am actually working on making this goddamn silly thing in RPGMaker MV. I'm posting it for free online when I'm done.

I'm bringing Lucia to the postgame - after the events of And The Stars Will Aid Her Escape, the fangame I'm planning that's her canon. What does this practically mean?

Well...

Lucia Bolido is a human, or at least she was in her world. This doesn't change the fact that she's also her world's Twilight Sparkle!

Here is a guide to the names of the people in her world who are, or who are meant to be, My Little Pony characters. You know, in case she drops those names.

MANE CAST:
Spike: Still called Spike, but his full name is Spykoran Verdignis, "Sharpclaw Greenflame" in Draconian.
Applejack: Warden Jacqueline Calvados, the ranger, who had a large farm and orchard outside of Ponyville Equiitane proper.
Rainbow Dash: Iris Levius, a knight of the Stormwatch known for gallantry and being able to fight with a lance on foot due to her sheer speed. The wind magic helps.
Rarity: Karima Abu'Musawwir, an enchantress and seamstress of no small renown. She makes most of her living as a spice and silk merchant.
Fluttershy: Parvaneh Shiva, a healer and ascetic who lives on the edge of Equiitane proper, tending to her animals.
Pinkie Pie: Rose Diane Baker, a rogue and professional jester who holds nightly revels.

OTHER NOTABLE CHARACTERS:
Celestia: The Queen Appolyta, ruler of all of the lands of Caelestia.
Luna: Queen Diana, although she had a brief reign of terror as...
Nightmare Moon: ...the Witch of Eternal Night, Dianoxia, while under the influence of a demonic entity known only as The Nightmare.

Zecora: The Shaman of the Ne'erbound Forest and the single most renowned alchemist in the Equiitane area, Uhura Zuri. Realize now I had no choice; she retained her rhyming voice.
THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE!: Patricia TRISMEGUSTOS! who remains such a gigantic ham that her performances are not kosher among orthodox Jewry. She's also the recurring joke midboss. You know the one.
Shining Armor: Escutio Bolido of the Queensguard, her beloved brother.

BACKGROUND PONIES:
Doctor Whooves: Depends on regeneration, but Lucia's been known to associate with a professor of history and chronal magic who goes by the alias of Timothy Tennant.
Derpyhooves: She goes by Bubbles, and she is 'slow' (read: some sort of autistic) and clumsy. But she's also not a one-off joke; she's the vendor trash purchaser, and she also resells the stuff adventures sell to her to people who need it. It's a living!

IN CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Lucia Bolido, sometimes called the Sparkle in Twilight.
Canon: My Little Pony
OU/AU/OC: AU to the maaaaaaaaaaaax!
Canon Point: See History, below.
History:

Lucia Bolido is another world's reflection of Twilight Sparkle - specifically, she was human, and from a jRPG high fantasy treatment of the My Little Pony universe, particularly the pilot episodes of Season One. She was a wizard studying wizardry in the capital city of Arcadia, and her patron, Appolyta, was that world's Celestia and every bit as beneficent as the original flavor goddess-queen.

Her world is as geographically and culturally diverse as ours. Appolyta ruled over a far flung republic, Roman-style, with control or at least cooperation from most of the 'european' and 'middle eastern' countries of her world. Lucia herself originally hailed from the Principality of Iberia, a Spanish and Moorish inflected city with a magnificent and Alhambra-esque public park where she used to study and play as a filly little girl.

At the point in that story that she was taken from, she has met and bonded with her world's take on the Mane Six (and Spike, don't forget Spike), who are united on a quest to defeat the evil Witch of Eternal Night and her cult. Which is to say, Nightmare Moon - although at this point her universe's Pinkie Pie and some research has convinced her that the Witch is possessed, and can be freed from the influence of the Nightmare Entity proper. She will be delighted to hear that this did, in fact, happen in MLJ Equestria.

Personality:

She's essentially the Twilight Sparkle you know and love, although she's a bit more serious in demeanor than the canon one.

Twilight is a university-educated scholar, on scholarship even. At this point, she's mostly gotten over her imposter syndrome... but being in another world with another Twilight may bring it back.

For this reason, she'll twig to the nature of Equestria a little faster than most, and will be very interested in finding out the mechanism behind the arrival of the Newponies.

Strengths:
Lucia earned her title of the Sparkle in Twilight because of her ability to shine when things are darkest. She can think her way out of almost any logical or illogical problem. She's incredibly intelligent and educated, and she has the will and the reason to remember that when others would quail.

Lucia is a mage, and a powerful one. Among her evocations were the ability to call fire, ice, lightning and acid; telekinesis; short-ranged, line-of-sight teleportation; an enchantment that will freeze the flow of time around a single person (learned from her world's Doctor Whooves), and the power to shoot bolts of purple witch-fire at anything that really deserves it, as defined by her. Naturally, her magic gives her less bang for her buck in this universe, and she will be most interested to study why this should be so. She doesn't have the Orbital Friendship Cannon TWILIGHT BREAKER! Rainbow of Light yet, but given the Elements of Harmony and a little help from her very best friends, she could probably manage it.

Given time and a way to draw magic circles, she can ward places against entry with specific exceptions; prevent magic or magical creatures from escaping a rune-scribed prison (she claims in all modesty to have had the help of her brother, Escutio Bolido, with that particular ritual); and to teleport to any save point conflux of leylines that she's visited before.

Lucia is also capable of making friends very quickly, and has the humility and integrity to admit when she was wrong - or when she has wronged another. This, too, is much like the original Twilight Sparkle.

Weaknesses:
In a word, Lucia panics. She's prone to social panic in particular; Lucia has a great fear of looking foalish, unprepared or disorganized in front of her teachers and those she loves. She is much more composed and cheerful in correspondence than she is in person, except with those she trusts. She's going to love and tolerate the buck out of the scroll network.

It has been said that wizards are subtle and quick to anger. When Lucia is particularly frustrated, SCREW SUBTLE. She comes from a world considerably more dangerous and violent than Equestria, and will need to learn to reign it in. Power wants to be used, and she has power.

Lucia will also seek a logical solution far past the point where it's clear that logic is not the correct answer. She lacks common sense and social graces that most people her age should have picked up, given that she literally lived in an ivory tower for a long time and was somewhat sheltered by her family and Appolyta goatee-wearingCelestia. Her sense of humor tends towards wordplay, and is she is somewhat humorless compared to canon Twilight (although her Pinkie has been a good influence on her).

Possessions:
1: A conical straw hat with a red headband.
2: A polished oak staff with a faceted sunstone at the top, which she uses to mark runes and channel magic.
3: A gold-trimmed cape with a mantle, with what appears to be Celestia's cutie mark embroidered on the back.
4: A grimoire, with her spells and rituals, written in a personal code.
5: A diary and pen with a collection of entries, curios and illustrations of her friends.

She would normally have a unicorn-horn wand for evocation spells, but instead has... a unicorn horn.

Pony/Animal Type:

Unicorn.

Cutie Mark:

She does not have Twilight's usual mark: instead, she has a silver magic circle encircling a hexagram, representing the Elements of Harmony bound by human will. Hi Karen Murphy!

Pony Picture:

Look she's basically Twilight Sparkle a'ight?

SAMPLES
First Person:
Does http://dear-mun.dreamwidth.org/10174934.html#cutid1 work for you? It's thou heavy because she's talking someone she knows very well - her mundane.

Third Person:

Lucia's eyes scanned the page again. And again. Her ears drooped and her mouth pursed downwards in irritation; she absently drew symbols and numbers in the earth with her staff, encased in the shimmering violet glow of her telekinesis.

An idle thought struck her, and she brought a hoof to her snout.

"How much easier is it within this pastoral world to grasp objects with my will, and how much harder to evoke magebolts and hoarfrost and great balls of fire?" She spoke slowly, to give herself time to hear the words and to truly think on them. Then Lucia looked at the equations from her grimoire, scratched in the sand - alongside those from it's twin from the libraries. They didn't add up.

This bothered Lucia. All unsolved mysteries did, to tell the truth.

A rumble from her stomach interrupted her thoughts. With the barest scrap of her will, she took a faerie cake from a tea-tray. This world's Spyke had left it, and strong black tea although the strength of it probably was a consequence of how long Lucia had neglected it.

She bit into it, savored the sugar and the taste of candy ginger. Sun and Moon, sugar and ginger were luxuries back home, and here they were common to the point where she could indulge whenever she wished to; and this world's Rose - Pinkie Pie, she corrected herself with a sigh - was delighted to enable her gluttony.

Yet steel was rare and swords far more expensive than on her world; gunpowder primitive and only used for festival fireworks; and the great coal-fired steam engines that provided locomotive force for carriages were, to her enduring shock, not used for warfare.

"I wonder." Lucia rolled her haunches up her barrel, then flexed her neck. "Is it in the nature of this world to abhor violence? Do the laws of this world prevent it? It would explain much..." she trailed off and scribbled another equation in the dirt, along the edge of a circle. "In motes of Essence, the cost of evocations seems..."

She smiled. Musing on a cake was the leap of intuition that she needed.
