I has a Save Rock and Roll! I braved the snowstorm Wednesday evening to buy it. And I'm listened to it for the first time in my Black Cards hoodie.

My thoughts )

In conclusion, I LOVE IT! Oh, Fall Out Boy how I've missed you so.

Just need to scream this to the world real quick:

Long Live The Car Crash Hearts!!

Believers Never Die!!

I'll have more to say on this later I'm sure.

I can't believe I didn't post about this last Friday when I found out. But HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS EMPIRES ARE PLAYING A SHOW IN DENVER. TOMORROW. I can't believe I finally get to see them live. I'm so excited I'm freaking myself out a little. Empires! In my city! I always thought that the first time I saw them I would've been roadtripping it. I'm near speechless. I feel so lucky that I happened to see they were playing here, I would have been devastated if I'd found out about the show after the fact.

So, yes. I'm going to be seeing Empires Monday night. And if you live anywhere within a reasonable distance of Denver you should totally come too!

I'm sorta baffled and yet stupidly excited about Tinted Windows. My brain keeps going 'What? What?! That's so awesome!'.

I had to get up today at 5:30am after just 7 hrs of sleep to go to the outpatient clinic with Dad. But awesomely I ended up not having to drive him home. Somehow he was completely lucid and with it after the procedure so since he felt up to driving he did. He was also in one of the best moods I'd seen him in in a while which was ... kinda odd now that I think about it. But we made it home just fine and everything went really smoothly so it's all good.

I've been thinking about making a post about this since Christmas.

My best friend and I are hilariously opposites. Since a few of you are going to be meeting her tomorrow I thought you might want to know this. :~) I lover her to death but there are few things we are like-minded about, the two main things being politics and the fact that we're both introverts. She's always wears skirts, I wear a skirt maybe twice a year. She loves country music, I can't stand it. I could go on. Actually we have such different tastes in music (she's a new age/ j-pop/ country kind of girl, I'm basically a rock chick) but there are the rare awesome times we like the same music. Last time I saw her she stole about 20 of my cds for random songs to add to her new I-touch. But when I made her listen to The Cab months ago I never in a hundred years expected her to like them, I just wanted her to hear this band that I'm so into and likely never shut up about. But she really digs them, enough to go to a show with me, which we've never done before. In fact she still has my copy of Whisper War!

Oh, and there's no need to keep quiet about fandom around her she totally gets it. I even managed to get her into HP fandom for awhile. She just prefers romance novels for some reason.

Not even up 6 hours and I've already had an eventful day. My mom took me to buy a pair of running shoes and then with my new shoes we walked nearly 1.5 miles around the lake next door the store. I even did a little running. Not a lot certainly since I'm nowhere near any kind of shape but it felt good.

We stopped for dinner afterwards at Boston Market. I always have the dark chicken and mac 'n' cheese and it was quite tasty. While we were eating we watched a storm gather to the north of us and joked about how unlikely it was that we'd get any rain around our homes. It started raining on our drive home and fairly quickly we started getting a little hail mixed in with the rain. As we drove there was more and more hail and less rain. We were more than half way home when it became solely hail and in hardly no time the visibility dropped to practically zero. Mom ended up pulling over on a side street with her hazard lights on for about five minutes 'til the hail stopped. They storm had pretty much finished by the time we got home to Green Mtn. We drove around a bit to check out the aftermath. Some of the storm drains were clogged and there were a few ponds in the roads. The flood ditches just had rivers of water rushing through them, which is always so cool to see.

We get to my house and no one's home. Mom comes inside with me to preserve some of the hail from her car in the freezer and the kitchen's flooded. Some one left the backdoor open and water had covered at least 3/4ths of the floor along with a bit of hail near the door. Thank goodness for my Mommy, she stayed and helped me push the water outside. But thankfully that was the only part of the house that got wet. Dad's poor Jeep though. He's got a soft-top and has all the windows off it. With the way he was parked while he was out all the rain and hail got blown start through the back of the Jeep. He's got hail in all the crevices and leaves plastered to the back of the seats and standing water in the foot wells. I can't help but laugh just a little at the and the sight.

Internet is down. It's been down for the last 15min. I'm so addicted. But really being on the 'net is one of the few ways for me to avoid everyone who lives in this damn house.

Last night I went with Dad to buy the stuff for the downstairs bathroom we're remodeling. The stuff they had in-stock was fuckin' ugly and we ended up having to special order everything except the shower insert. That was so freakin' expensive! Did you know that it costs over a hundred dollars for a nice sink faucet?

I need to go take a shower so I don't scare my masseuse this afternoon. I wonder how much hot water there is considering Chris just got out and Taylor was taking a bath before that. Hopefully the 'net will be back when I'm done.

Internet is back, shower stuff is done. Massage here I come!

I've been meaning to post all week but there's been so much stuff going on that I just now found the time and energy to type this up.

Monday morning I had to drive my dad home from his colonoscopy. We had to leave home by 7:15am and I ended up with only 5 hours of sleep. This was the first time I'd driven in over a year. I think it went pretty well. Driving with my dad can be a pain but it was a little funny as well 'cause the drugs they gave him hadn't worn off completely and he kept mumbling stuff at me.

Monday afternoon I helped my brother tear down the downstairs bathroom he's about to redo. That was soo much fun! We took a hammer to the shower stall and just beat the hell out of it. It was definitely the most fun I've had all week, possibly all month.

This week has been so hectic. Chris got here on Sunday after driving all the way from Seattle. Jeremy's daughter Caty flew in on Tuesday. And Shea and his wife Liz got here on Thursday. Now the whole fam-damily is here, all eleven of us.

It feels like I've been cleaning and shopping all week but I know that's not true, I cleaned on Tues. and Thurs. and shopped Wed. and Fri. We've gone out to dinner the past two nights, both nights at restaurants I'm not a fan of. But I think for the most part everyone had a good time.

Tomorrow (the 24th) I have to go grocery shopping for X-Mas Eve and X-mas dinner as well as the treats I'm baking. I think people we probably start showing up here around 1:30pm to watch the football game (broncos vs. raiders).

And now I sleep.

I meant to post about the Tamora Pierce signing Tiffany and I went to but I forgot. :~( So, here are the highlights.

~Turns out it wasn't just a signing but a reading and signing. WOO-HOO!!! She read an excerpt from the first book in a duology that comes out next fall. Yay! new book!

~She has her writing schedule planned out 'til 2009. HOLY SHIT! that's a long time. but YAY! lots more books coming our way.

~When asked where she gets the ideas for the gods in her stories she commented that her dream god was based a little bit on Neil Gaiman's Sandman stories and that she's a big fan of his. I immediately thought of [livejournal.com profile] bobbi_wic.

~She refers to her husband as her spouse creature. Her spouse creature runs her website.

~When asked where she gets the ideas for her horse characters she said she drew most of her inspiration from Robin McKinley’s The Blue Sword and The Hero and the Crown. One of the horses was based on everything she was afraid of about horses.

~She's friends with Bruce Coville!

~There was an adorable toddler running around while her mom and Grandma waited behind us. Her name was Alanna, after the main character in one of the series'.

~Tiffany and I were some of the last people in the line. I don't think we got our books signed 'til nine-thirty or ten. Tamora seemed pretty tired when we got up there.

And a good time was had by all.

Got home a little while ago. I bought a pair of jeans but I'm not sure if I like them. I need to wash them a few times and then we'll see. I also bought a bra. That's the first bra I've bought in like, 7 years. And I think it's too small. Other than that it was very comfortable.

After the mall Mom and I went to her townhome to hang out. During the drive I was showing her my new Chili Peppers cd that I'm in love with.

I had brought Dad's laptop with me so I could show her all my Nick Carter stuff that I've downloaded. She's the person I share all my squee with. She enjoys hearing about it I think. Then we got online and I showed her my New! journal. I also got her started on reading Between the Lines. I'd told her about the story before 'cause I thought she'd like it and now she finally got to read some of it. She got to chapter seven before she started getting sleepy. And a good time was had by all.

When I got home Dad was watching a movie really loudly so I've been exiled upstairs off the cable modem to his laptop with the 56k modem. And I don't have the livejournal client on this thing either! The only good thing about this 'puter is that it's got 15.8 GB. I'm soo envious.
