🧑🎓 STUDENT VOICE | EDUVERSE ISSUE 28 Before John Cedrick Colesio entered a classroom as a future teacher, life had already taught him through farming, family sacrifice, financial hardship, leadership, and hope. In his student voice article, From Dust to Dreams: My Journey Toward Becoming a Teacher, John reflects on how these experiences shaped his identity as a learner and his purpose as an educator. He also calls for greater space for students to be heard: “Education should not only teach students what to think. It should also allow them to think, to question, and to grow.” 💖 We warmly congratulate John on publishing this honest and hopeful article in EduVerse Issue 28. His journey reminds us that student-centered education begins by recognizing the experiences, voices, and aspirations learners bring with them. Read John’s student voice article in EduVerse Issue 28. 🌟 What if a classroom looks lively, but leaves little evidence of what students are actually thinking? In the latest Ask the Experts interview in EduVerse newsletter 28, Purposeful Learning: A New Way of Thinking About Student-Centeredness, Dr. Le Dinh Bao Quoc, Ed.D. invites educators to look beyond activity and task completion. Evidence of learning can appear in students’ questions, decisions, explanations, revisions, and reasons for changing direction. ✨ The conversation also considers AI’s place in learning: “AI should support learning, not substitute for it.” AI can explain ideas, generate examples, and offer feedback. Yet forming ideas, exercising judgment, reflecting, and deciding what to do next should remain with the learner. 😍 Read the full interview and explore more ideas on AI use in the classrooms in EduVerse Issue 28: https://lnkd.in/gbgSBDyi #Eduverse #PurposefulLearning #StudentCentered #evidenceofthinking #AIinEducation

😍 We are delighted to celebrate and congratulate Stacy Kratochvil on the publication of her article, Who Gets to Decide in an AI-Powered World?, in EduVerse Issue 28. Through a revealing classroom moment, Stacy explores what can happen when AI moves beyond supporting students and quietly begins making decisions for them. After receiving AI feedback, one student announced that her work was finished because the tool said it was “perfect.” At that moment, the decision no longer belonged to the learner. Stacy invites educators to consider a simple but powerful question: ❓“Who gets to decide, and who gets to learn from that decision?” The article reminds us that student-centered learning requires more than participation or choice. Learners need meaningful opportunities to exercise judgment, make decisions, explain their thinking, and remain connected to their own work, especially when AI is ready to answer for them. 💫 Congratulations, Stacy, on this timely and thought-provoking publication. We are honored to share your voice with the EduVerse community. Read Stacy’s article in EduVerse Issue 28. ❓What if a learner’s keeps improving, but the learner gradually disappears inside it? In EduVerse Newsletter 28, Blanka Pawlak told a story of Luke, a capable professional whose English was accurate and carefully prepared. Yet he constantly sought approval, translating not only words but also his own judgment. 💫The shift began when the learning moved beyond what Luke needed to say and explored who he needed to be when communicating. English then became more than a skill. It became a way for his professional identity, intentions, and decisions to come through. 🔥 Blanka’s article invites educators to reconsider needs analysis, participation, feedback, and learner autonomy. Are we only developing better English, or helping learners become more fully themselves within it? 💢 Read the article in EduVerse Issue 28. 👩🎓👨🎓What changes when students are invited to speak as people who live education every day? 💫 STUDENT VOICES: LEARNING FROM THE INSIDE brings together 20 personal articles from learners across ages, countries, languages, and educational settings. Created jointly by EduVerse and The University Grapevine, the collection explores identity, agency, motivation, pressure, technology, belonging, and the realities that shape learning from within. 💖 These articles were valued not for polished language or perfect form, but for honesty, reflection, and authentic experience. They remind educators and decision-makers that listening to learners is not an addition to student-centered education. It is part of how we understand it. 📣 Read the free companion booklet and listen to learning from the inside. Read it here (Flipbook version): https://lnkd.in/gMqwRMhS Students everywhere are also invited to share their future voices with EduVerse and TUG.
