[Well, this is a well decorated page. There's just a few dots at first, before the page is suddenly assaulted by scribbles. Then...
A flower! A little crudely drawn, it doesn't look like the artist in question is exactly Van Gogh here. The flower is followed by a few trees, what appears to be a bird, a couple interlocking circles and a couple large, wobbly drawn letters.]

Funny little book. Who does it belong to anyway? I wonder what these words say...
[A little face is drawn, smiling cheerfully out of the page]
Well, if someone left it, I guess I can keep it.

Letters build words, words build worlds.
[He doesn't really expect her to be able to read it, based on her spelling there, but it's the thought that counts.
And then voice -]
It is yours, most likely.

And a solid THUMP as he speaks. Sounds like she dropped it]
It talks!
[There's shuffling again, like footsteps around the journal, and then...
Two sharp thumps. ... Is she kicking it?]
Are you magic?
[voice]
I have another book like yours, and am speaking into it. They carry the sound to you, and whatever I write.

Books aren't supposed to talk like that.
Do you have a name? Who is everyone? Where am I? Why are you talking?
[Voice]
I'm not a book; I'm talking through the book. See that picture in the corner? That's me; Rydia, one of the Welcome Center volunteers.

Before she draws long, flowing hair on her smiley face, and a body too. Stick figure, yeeees, but still.
Seems like she's interested in a draw off.]

She adds a stick body to her own face, too, even adding a little triangle skirt too. She then draws a little stick arm waving in greeting out of the page, an attempt at communication.]

In very little time at all, Miyabi will have painted a flower of her own into her journal. It's clear the one on the other end is fairly skilled, even if it was painted with very little time.]

[There's a big circle around the Q now]
It looks like O.
[Written/voice]
That's called a Q. It's not used very much.
[With some scribbling, he draws a rather painful attempt at a bird.]
See this? It's called a Quail. It begins with Q.

It's your book. Everyone who lives here has one and you can talk to people with it.
[Written/Voice]
Talking to people with a book? That's weird.
Can I take it with me back to my forest? When do I get to go back?
[Written/Voice]
But that question, how he hates being either dishonest or making a child sad and he knows the sad truth is that not only will the book not go home with her, but she won't remember any of them. So he'll settle for the best route of a partial truth.]
You get used to it. But no, you can't take the book back. When you go home you'll go back to just how you were when you left.
