Every project starts with a conversation about your goals.

To begin, complete our project intake form. MarComm reviews new requests each Tuesday.

Because demand for marketing and communications support often exceeds our available capacity, we use a project scoring system to prioritize requests. The scoring process helps ensure our resources are focused on projects that advance UWM’s strategic priorities and have the greatest impact.

After reviewing your request, we will determine whether MarComm has the capacity to take on the project.

If we move forward, we will assign a project lead who will serve as your primary point of contact. That person will work with you to clarify goals, gather any additional information needed and get the project underway.

For large or highly complex projects, we may also develop a project plan that outlines roles and responsibilities, timelines, deliverables and measures of success. We also recommend reviewing our Design team guidelines, which provide helpful information about the design process and project expectations.

If we are unable to take on your project, we will do our best to connect you with an agency, freelancer or other resource that may be able to help.

We want every project to succeed. When you achieve your goals, we achieve ours.

Staying on Schedule

Missing deadlines on your part may prevent MarComm from completing your project by the originally planned date. Projects that fall significantly behind schedule may need to be put on hold or rescheduled, depending on MarComm’s availability and capacity.

Proofreading and Fact-Checking Guidance

All materials designed by MarComm will be reviewed by a professional proofreader for spelling, typographical, and style errors before being sent to the printer. Proofreading does not include copyediting to improve clarity, organization or sentence structure, nor does it include fact-checking.

MarComm provides fact-checking for original content created by our team. We have limited capacity to fact-check content that is repurposed from previous publications or provided by you. For that reason, you are responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy of all facts—including statistics, names, dates and titles—in content you provide. Please review our guidance on fact-checking.

Frequently used data for marketing materials can be found in the UWM Facts Database. The Office of Assessment and Institutional Research and the Office of Research can also provide data upon request.

Billing

MarComm does not charge for its services. However, departments are responsible for covering any direct project expenses, such as digital advertising or music licensing for videos. These expenses are billed as they are incurred.

Billing Process

MarComm collects payments through direct fund transfer. MarComm does not issue invoices to campus units.
