  • The obvious solution to a 'driver shortage' is more drivers. But other solutions exist. According to the FT, there were 502,000 unfilled truck driver positions across the EU last year. By 2030, another 660,500 drivers are set to retire. The obvious response seems to be: get more drivers. We do need more drivers. But that's only half the answer. Transport remains a low-margin industry. Hauliers can't simply increase wages to compete for a shrinking pool of drivers. And with autonomous trucks 10-plus years away, our industry must get better at using the capacity it already has. Here in the UK, 1 of every 3 trucks is driving empty! Collaborating to fill empty capacity is on the rise, and it will continue to rise. A very interesting read from the FT. https://lnkd.in/eDeNDyFm

  • July saw road transport prices hit a record high of 135.9 – surpassing even December 2025's peak. With high fuel prices and capacity constraints still simmering in the background, the latest TEG Price Index report digs into demand vs capacity, fuel volatility, and what the Burnham bounce means for transport operators heading into peak. Read the full report via the link in the comments. #transport #logistics #transportprices

  • No-one wants to use external vehicles while they have empty trucks on their books. The trouble is, planners rarely know where their owned trucks are, or where they're headed, that they’re on hand to avoid service failures. Planners are told to fill trucks. But, really, when you don’t have the information you need to do your job properly – when you can’t see where your organisation’s assets are, or their capacity status, or their destination – it’s an impossible challenge. TEG gives transport teams live visibility of where their organisation’s own assets are, and which are available to book and fill. In that sense, TEG allows planners to prevent service failures, while cutting costs and emissions. Doing their job properly – without the constant calls and emails. #transport #logistics #carriersourcing

  • When David joined the TEG grad scheme in Sept 25, he had a plan. It didn't involve Chippenham. London was always part of his bigger life plan, and the product roles at our Kings Cross office caught his interest. But when leadership opportunities came up in our Chippenham office, David went for them. Ten months later, he is Onboarding Manager and he wouldn't have it any other way. David's onboarding team of eleven is responsible for the first experiences of new members on the TEG platform. Without David's team, members would arrive lacking the knowledge, tools, or confidence to build their business on the platform. We ask our expert: What advice would you give to grow your career? David Lam: "Don't limit yourself. If you can apply your skills to a role, there's no reason not to go for it." Now David is the one supporting new graduates to build their skills and find their right roles. He is also working on a transformation project using AI and automation to remove manual work from onboarding, without losing the human touch. His team's mission: make sure every member gets the best possible start with a complete profile, the right charges in place, and the tools to quote successfully. What motivates him? The same thread that runs through all of it - the people. His team, and the members whose lives they change. Seeing someone grow from owner-driver to fleet manager, pay their mortgage, build something real for their family. #WorkatTEG #LifeatTEG #WeAreTEG #Onboarding

  • 3PLs increasingly ask us about 'hybrid' carrier networks. Especially those who've grown through acquisition. They have dispersed operations. Each depot often has its own carrier network – which often has spare capacity that other depots need. The challenge is: other depots don't know the spare capacity exists, or how to find it. The TEG platform gives 3PLs a single view of their combined carrier network and its live availability. That lets depots fill existing capacity before sourcing externally. Fewer dead miles. Fewer external bills. It's carrier sourcing. For enterprise.

  • The latest from TEG's James Mead. Normally, we'd have to wait until December 2026 to see prices rise above those of December 2025. But 2026 is no normal year. With Middle Eastern tension rife, how high can we expect transport prices to rise? Read the full piece via the comments link for Meado's analysis.
