Inspiring future talent at Leyton Engineering We were delighted to welcome a group of 16 to 18-year-old work experience students to Leyton Garage this week, giving young people an insight into the wide range of careers and opportunities available across the transport sector. The visit formed part of a week-long work experience programme organised by Transport for London's Bus Safety Development Team in partnership with Women in Bus and Coach. The programme aims to introduce enthusiastic secondary school students to the bus industry and showcase the diverse range of roles involved in delivering bus services across London. As part of the programme, students are visiting a number of garages operated by different bus companies. They chose Leyton because of its specialist paint and trim shops, providing a unique opportunity to see some of the highly skilled work that takes place behind the scenes to keep our fleet operating and looking its best. During their visit, the students explored one of our new electric vehicles, stepped inside the paint booth and gained a first-hand understanding of the expertise involved in maintaining and refurbishing our buses. A couple of students even tried their hand at using the trim shop's sewing machine, experiencing some of the practical skills required in vehicle refurbishment and interior maintenance. The group asked plenty of thoughtful questions throughout the visit, demonstrating a genuine curiosity about the industry and the career opportunities available. A big thank you to Craig Mills and Mark Wallis, who shared their knowledge and experiences helping to bring the world of bus engineering to life for the students. Initiatives like this play an important role in helping young people understand the breadth of careers available within transport, from engineering and maintenance to operational, technical and leadership roles. We hope experiences like these inspire some of the students to consider a future career within the London bus industry. A huge thank you to everyone at Leyton who showcased their expertise and helped make the visit such a success. By opening our doors to the next generation, we're helping to build awareness of the exciting and rewarding careers that keep London's buses moving every day. #WomenInBus #Futuretalent #Engineeringcareers #Busindustry #Redbus #Workexperience #LondonBuses #Inspiringthenextgeneration

Starting conversations that could save lives This week, we partnered with Macmillan Cancer Support and the Transport Friendly Society Ltd to host a Cancer Awareness Event at Catford Bus Garage, bringing colleagues together to learn more about different types of cancer, the signs and symptoms to look out for and where to access support and advice. The event served as a pilot as we explore rolling out similar awareness sessions across our network throughout the year. Our aim is to take a targeted approach, tailoring health messages to the demographics and needs of colleagues at each location, helping to ensure the information shared is relevant, meaningful and impactful. At Catford, this included raising awareness of prostate cancer, particularly as Black men are at a higher risk of developing the disease. By focusing on topics most relevant to our workforce, we hoped to encourage more people to understand their risk, recognise potential symptoms and seek advice early. We're pleased to say the event was a real success. Throughout the day, colleagues met with representatives from Macmillan Cancer Support and the Transport Friendly Society, accessed information, asked questions and took part in some really important conversations about cancer awareness. We hope everyone who attended found the event informative, supportive and helpful. A special thank you goes to our colleague Cliff, a driver at Catford, who attended the event and generously shared his personal experience to help raise awareness and encourage others to prioritise their health. As Cliff said: "If I can get one person tested, by sharing my story, that's a win for me." Those words perfectly capture what the day was all about. By sharing experiences and creating opportunities for open conversations, we can help increase awareness, break down stigma and encourage earlier diagnosis. We also shared Cliff's story on our internal platform, Blink - Employee Experience Platform - his openness and willingness to share his journey has helped raise awareness and encourage colleagues to recognise the signs, understand their risk and get checked when something doesn't feel right. A big thank you to Macmillan Cancer Support, Transport Friendly Society, Cliff and everyone who attended and supported this important initiative. Know your risk. Know your signs. Don't put off getting checked. #cancerawareness #health&wellbeing #MacmillanCancerSupport #Stagecoach #Earlydiagnosis

The annual awards celebrate the outstanding people and teams who help keep London's bus network moving every day. We were proud to have six colleagues and locations shortlisted across a range of categories, showcasing the talent, commitment and professionalism that exists right across our business. Congratulations to our superb finalists: Emma Samules (Walthamstow) – Outstanding Customer Service Hayley Lewton (Training) – Accessibility Champion Bradley Robertson (Leyton) – Outstanding Newcomer Darren Stedman (Catford) – Safety Champion And then there’s our winners! Firstly, Romford Garage won for Best Vehicle Care. The award recognised the outstanding teamwork between colleagues across engineering, operations and the cleaning team, whose collaborative approach helps maintain the highest standards every day. It was a fantastic achievement and thoroughly deserved recognition for everyone involved. We were then thrilled to see Donald Hall from Ash Grove receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, recognising his exceptional contribution to the bus industry over many years. Known for always going the extra mile, Donald has supported countless colleagues, generously shared his expertise and mentored others throughout his career. Highly respected and admired, he embodies professionalism, dedication and commitment, making him a truly deserving recipient of this special honour. Another memorable moment of the evening came when Akin Tureme from Leyton received a surprise special recognition award from TfL. Although not formally shortlisted, Akin had been invited to the event by TfL in recognition of his actions during a number of significant incidents over the past year, making the unexpected honour all the more special. Paul Lynch, Managing Director said: "The London Bus Awards celebrate the very best of our industry, and I'm delighted to see so many Stagecoach London colleagues recognised. Romford Garage's Best Vehicle Care award was a particular highlight and a testament to the fantastic collaboration between our engineering, operations and cleaning teams. Remembering those affected by 7/7 This morning, representatives from Stagecoach London attended the annual memorial at Tavistock Square to mark the 21st anniversary of the 7 July 2005 London bombings. At 09:47, the exact time of the attack on the number 30 bus, a minute's silence was observed, followed by the laying of wreaths in remembrance of those who lost their lives and everyone affected by the events of that day. Representatives from TfL, the emergency services, friends and family of those impacted and members of the wider community came together to pay their respects and reflect on the lasting impact of the attacks. The events of 7/7 will always be part of our story and a chapter we will continue to remember - not just today, but always. Together, we honour those who lost their lives, remember everyone whose lives were changed forever and recognise the strength, resilience and compassion shown in the aftermath of that day. 21 years on. Never forgotten.

Today we were incredibly proud to support The Earthshot Prize by providing transport for His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and conservationist Robert Irwin as they arrived at the event at London's Guildhall. The honour was made even more special as the vehicle was our brand-new Wrightbus Electroliner, recently recognised as London's 3,000th zero-emission bus – wearing bespoke Earthshot vinyls for the occasion. It was a fitting way to showcase how zero-emission public transport is helping reduce emissions, improve air quality and support a more sustainable future. A huge thank you and congratulations to our driver, Michael Salt, who represented Stagecoach London brilliantly throughout the day. Michael had the privilege of transporting His Royal Highness and Robert Irwin and even enjoyed the opportunity to meet and chat with the future King. Special recognition also goes to our engineering team for preparing the vehicle to such a high standard and to McKenna Brothers for sorting the bus destination blind at extremely short notice. It's a fantastic example of what can be achieved through collaboration and we love seeing different teams come together to deliver something special. We're incredibly humbled to have played a small part in such an important event, demonstrating how organisations like Stagecoach, Wrightbus, Transport for London and the Earthshot Prize can all contribute towards a cleaner, greener future. Last night, Stagecoach London proudly took part in the House of Lords vs House of Commons Tug of War at College Garden, Westminster Abbey, in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. As a Gold Sponsor, this was our second year participating in this unique and exciting event. It's one of those occasions that you can't help but get completely caught up in, with the competitive spirit and team camaraderie making every match unforgettable. A huge thank you to Wrightbus for sponsoring our team and to our fantastic engineering colleagues and supporters who gave it their all. While we may have only secured one win from our three matches, the determination and teamwork on display were second to none. We're sure everyone slept well afterwards! Extended thank yous to Ian Crowther Melanie Humphreys and Ella Forster from Macmillan - thank you for having us! It’s always brilliant attending your fantastic events and great to catch up 💚 Events like this are a fantastic reminder of the power of bringing people together while raising vital funds for such an important cause. Supporting Macmillan Cancer Support and creating opportunities for our teams to connect outside of the day job is something we're incredibly proud to be part of. Well done to everyone involved, and we look forward to returning next year. #StagecoachLondon #Macmillan #Teamwork #Community #Fundraising #WestminsterAbbey #Wrightbus #RedBus #TFL #Fundraising

A great day at Edmonton EcoPark with our Environmental Champions ♻️ Today, members of our team visited the Edmonton EcoPark material recycling facility to gain a deeper understanding of the recycling process and the challenges facing the industry. Processing waste from around 1.8 million households across North London boroughs, the scale of the operation is incredible - handling approximately 47 tonnes of waste every hour, 364 days a year. It was fascinating to see the combination of technology and teamwork involved in sorting materials. From magnets and air jets to manual processes, every stage plays a vital role. We also explored the growing role of AI within recycling operations through greyparrot, whose sampling units help teams better understand waste streams and improve recycling efficiency. This visit marks the start of our 12-month sustainability and recycling improvement plan, bringing together Environmental Champions and managers to drive improvements in recycling performance, reduce costs, and support our wider sustainability ambitions. It was also great to collaborate with colleagues from Nationwide and Biffa, sharing insights and strengthening partnerships across the sector. One of the biggest takeaways from the day is that small actions from all of us can make a big difference: ~ Clean, dry and separate recyclable items ~ Use ‘Household Waste Recycling Centres’ for items such as clothing and electricals ~ If unsure, check your local council guidance before disposing of items A truly eye-opening visit - and just the beginning. On 5 June our Environmental Champions will be hosting roadshows across our bus garages to promote World Environment Day and showcase progress from our sustainability programme. #greenerlondon #recycling #londonbuses #environment #wastemanagement
