As we mark 100 years of the site, its evolution tells a bigger story. By recycling around 20% of the world's PGMs, it keeps these vital metals in use to support the technologies that rely on them. 🎓 Development, project recaps and hard-earned wins - all in one week! It was brilliant to get our 2024 LEAD cohort together last week for their final development week, with some travelling in from the other side of the world to be there. They kicked things off at our Royston HQ before heading to our London Hub for the programme's poster sessions, where they talked through the projects and achievements built up across three rotations. Apprentices from Royston and Brimsdown presented their work too, and colleagues and senior leaders came along over lunch to hear the stories behind it all. We couldn't be prouder of what this group has achieved and we can't wait to see where they take their skills next 👏 Keep an eye on our channels to hear from the grads themselves, with applications for our next cohort opening later this summer!

♻️ New publication shows that platinum group metals are far more circular than the world realised! New peer-reviewed data published by the American Chemical Society reveals that on average, 50-60% of the metal used in new PGM products globally is sourced from recycling - a figure significantly higher than often reported, because market data doesn’t include 'closed-loop' recycling that retains the metal within industrial processes. The sustainability impact is striking: the global warming potential of PGMs can be reduced by a factor of ten when a closed loop recycling is put in place. ⚙️ What do diggers, loaders, cranes and tractors have in common? They're quietly becoming one of the EU's next major emissions hurdles. As road transport gets cleaner, Non-Road Mobile Machinery (NRMM) is set to account for a growing share of emissions - by 2050, over a third of NOx emissions from inland transport in Europe are expected to come from this sector alone, with its share of CO2 emissions rising too. From mini loaders to towering cranes, these machines do vastly different jobs in vastly different environments, from connected town centres to remote quarries and farmland.
