💡 Hertility, a UK-based women’s telehealth platform, released its fourth annual Reproductive Report, analyzing over 500,000 patient assessments. The findings highlight persistent knowledge gaps around menstrual cycles and fertility, alongside barriers to specialist care. While 70% of women have worn a wearable to monitor their health and 51% have used cycle-tracking tools, many remain uncertain about basic reproductive health. Hertility attributes much of the confusion to a fragmented care ecosystem, where health data, symptoms, and reproductive information are spread across multiple apps and providers. 💬 “A woman’s cycle lives in one app, her symptoms in another and her hormone results somewhere else. 🔬 Proud to see our latest research published in the Journal of Patient Centricity. One of the biggest questions in at-home testing is simple: can a finger-prick sample really give you the same answer as a clinic blood draw? At Hertility, we rigorously and continuously validate this through our own research. We're incredibly proud to share that our team has officially published our second peer-reviewed paper evaluating the accuracy of capillary (finger-prick) vs. venous (traditional blood draw) testing, this time for thyroid hormones. Our new paper shows that TSH and FT4 measured from finger-prick samples in standard gel-containing tubes are comparable to venous draws, with agreement well within internationally accepted clinical limits. This builds directly on our earlier work (Vasavan et al., 2025), which showed that it was the collection tube, specifically the serum separator gel inside it, and not the finger-prick itself, that was the key variable for hormone accuracy. This time we found that gel doesn't interfere with TSH and FT4, so standard tubes remain reliable for at-home thyroid testing in capillary tubes. Why it matters: it means people managing thyroid conditions may be able to monitor their health from home, without a trip to the clinic for every test.
