The UK's first Independent Hate Crime Advocacy (IHCA) course is intersectional by design. What does that actually mean? IHCA was created in partnership with Tell MAMA, Community Security Trust, THE MONITORING GROUP LIMITED, CHOICE IN HACKNEY, Stay Safe East, Galop and East European Resource Centre. This groundbreaking course is built from the largest 'by and for' knowledge base on hate in the UK. Each partner contributed their specialist lens to the different strands of hate to create a course which rejects a 'one size fits all' approach and leans into intersectionality. This not only creates more dynamic learning but ensures that the IHCA's completing this qualification are meaningfully person centred and holistic in their approach to advocacy. The Independent Hate Crime Advocate (IHCA) course is a CPD-accredited training that will equip you with the confidence, tools, and expert knowledge to provide high-quality hate crime advocacy. Built from the UK's largest and most robust ‘by-and-for’ knowledge base on hate, this nationally available qualification will help build a network of professionals who can provide expert hate crime support in every setting. Over 14 weeks, we'll work with you to explore best-practice approaches to prevent harm, reduce risk, and respond safely to all strands of hate. 100% of IHCA learners who provided feedback, would recommend this ground-breaking course. On Saturday, we marched in the world's largest Trans+ Pride event in history. 150,000 people came together in a powerful, heartwarming display of support and solidarity. While trans+ people are facing an increasingly hostile environment, the event in London showed that our community is stronger together and no one is free until we all are. However, on the same day, the LGBT+ community at Berlin Pride were attacked in a shocking terrorist attack. Our hearts are with the victims, their loved ones, and the wider community. Many in our community will now rightly feel scared in the wake of more hatred and violence. Please know you are not alone. Let the 150,000 people who marched in London for trans+ rights be a reminder that so many people are out there working to make a better world. Our Pride can never be taken away as long as we have hope, and we keep fighting to ensure every one of us is free to be our true selves 🌈 🏳️⚧️ 🏳️🌈

The UK Government is banning conversion practices in England and Wales, so now is the time to ensure your team can recognise and respond to the harm of conversion practices. “More confident. Better equipped. Even more committed.” Those are the words of a learner from our first Independent Hate Crime Advocate (IHCA) course. They exhibit exactly why we created this qualification in alongside 6 other by and for hate crime services. Hate can happen anywhere - Yet many professionals are expected to recognise and respond without having specialist anti-hate advocacy training. On Monday 20 July, we will remember Shafilea Ahmed. Shafilea was murdered in an honour killing by her parents because they believed she was ‘too westernised’ and refused to get married. Shafilea would have turned 40 this year. To mark the Day of Memory for Shafilea Ahmed, we are hosting an online event with HPSP London and Karma Nirvana from 11:00AM-12:30PM. Our Director of Policy and Research, Kai O'Doherty, will be sharing from our new research into modern-day conversion practices, alongside reflections from Karma Nirvana.
