  • We're proud of many things at FCDO Services. But most of all, we're proud of our people. Behind every mission, every deployment, every operation in a difficult corner of the world, there are FCDO Services people - often far from home, doing extraordinary work that rarely gets the recognition it deserves. In this year's Annual Report, CEO Mike Astell reflects on the people who make this organisation what it is. • A profile image of FCDO Services CEO Mike Astell with a quote from him that reads “I want to offer a particular word of thanks to those colleagues who have been part of the UK Government's response to global crises this year - especially those deployed overseas, away from their families and loved ones, supporting the FCDO in some of the most demanding and dangerous environments in the world.

What they do is extraordinary, largely unseen, and it matters enormously. FCDO Services exists because of people like them, and I consider it a genuine privilege to lead this organisation.”
  • We're opening the doors to the next generation of talent. This year, FCDO Services welcomed 24 students from 16 local schools for a three-day work experience programme designed to give young people real insight into what a career here could look like. From cyber security and technical engineering to sustainability and corporate communications, students experienced the full breadth of what we do - tackling hands-on STEM challenges and hearing first-hand from colleagues who started as apprentices and have built long careers here. The standout challenge ran across all three days: designing a double-decker bus to promote FCDO Services careers and STEM subjects to students. Creative, strategic, and exactly the kind of problem-solving thinking we value. We're proud of what this cohort achieved - and we can't wait to do it all again next year. #FCDOServices #ItAllMatters #WorkExperience #EarlyTalent #Apprenticeships #STEM Image description: A drawing of a double decker bus coloured with FCDO Services drawn on the side.

Learning about everything from cyber to sustainability, and getting hands-on with the STEM challenges, made it feel real rather than just sitting in a classroom. The bus project was such a cool idea – it made you think differently about how you communicate and bring people together. It's definitely made me think more about where I want to go after sixth form"
  • In June 1991, the Hanslope Park Day Nursery opened its doors.  35 years later, it's still supporting the people who make our organisation work.  From a single child to generations of families, it's been there to enable staff to come to work and has made an enormous difference for working parents.. And some of the children who were cared for there are now part of our teams. Swipe to see how it all began ➡️ #FCDOServices #ItAllMatters #HanslopePark #Heritage #OurPeople #WorkingFamilies HMGCC

  • Eighty years ago, a small wartime communications unit became something permanent. Something essential. Foreign Secretary Ernest Bevin's signature on a short circular formally established the Diplomatic Wireless Service and set in motion eight decades of work that would shape British diplomacy. From operating some of the world's most powerful transmitters to uncovering hidden listening devices in British diplomatic missions, the people of the DWS kept British diplomacy connected and secure, whatever the circumstances. They developed pioneering communications technology. They worked through invasion, crisis, and cold war, rarely seeking recognition. At FCDO Services, we continue that mission. And this year, we're proud to mark the 80th anniversary of where it began. It's a history worth knowing. And it's still being written. • Four years in, and the Turing Mile just keeps getting better. Held in honour of Alan Turing — the pioneering scientist who shaped the future of computing while living and working at Hanslope Park during WWII — the Turing Mile is a much-loved tradition at our site near Milton Keynes. Nearly 400 colleagues from HMGCC, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and FCDO Services came together over lunch on a hot day at Hanslope Park — some racing the mile for glory, some strolling in the sunshine, and some turning heads with their fancy dress. 🌞 A special thank you to every volunteer who helped organise the event. This year’s fastest time was just 5 minutes 18 seconds, a new record set by HMGCC. We'll see you on the start line next year. 🏃♀️ #FCDOServices #ItAllMatters #TuringMile #HanslopePark #Wellbeing #AlanTuring Image description: A close up of medal for the completing the Turing Mile. • Last month, we were thrilled to be part of STEAM Northants at the University of Northampton! From Year 6 to Year 13, over 3,000 young people from across Northamptonshire came together to explore science, technology, engineering, arts and maths - and discover where they could take them in the future. It was fantastic to see so many students engaging with hands-on activities, workshops and shows, and we loved being part of an event that's doing such important work to inspire the next generation of talent right in Northamptonshire. We can't wait to see what these young people go on to achieve. #FCDOServices #ItAllMatters #STEAMNorthants #STEAM #Northamptonshire #Careers #YoungPeople #UniversityOfNorthampton Image description: An artistic sign saying STEAM Northants and an the FCDO Services stand with our CCTV wiring engineering challenge

Our Annual Report and Accounts for 2025/26 has been published. As geopolitical instability rises and budgets across government tighten, the need for FCDO Services to deliver trusted, secure services has never been greater. From a new logistics hub in the making to satellite communications at the edge of the world. 🛰️ From apprentices graduating and starting their careers to managers completing a year-long development programme. 🎓 From diplomatic bags redesigned to reduce manual handling to a new parcel tracking system giving customers real-time visibility. 📦    2025/26 was a year of deliberate change  – working smarter, investing in our people, and continuing to deliver for our partners under pressure. This is work that is largely unseen – but absolutely essential. None of it happens without our people. • Armed Forces Day is a moment to say thank you - to those who serve, those who have served, and the families who support them every step of the way. From the UK to some of the world's most complex locations, Armed Forces personnel work tirelessly to keep our country safe. Their dedication, professionalism and courage are something we hold in the highest regard. We're proud that many of our colleagues have come to us from the Armed Forces, bringing with them skills and experience that help make us a stronger organisation. And as a member of the British Forces Resettlement Services network, we're committed to ensuring that service leavers and veterans find real opportunities when they're ready for the next chapter of their careers. To every sailor, soldier, aviator, reservist, veteran and military family member - thank you. #ArmedForcesDay #FCDOServices #ItAllMatters Image description: Soldiers lined up in dress uniforms  Image credit: Sgt Tim Hammond © Crown copyright 2025; UK Ministry of Defence

  • We work on some of the most complex and sensitive operations in government. But working at the beautiful Hanslope Park site means we share our home with the countryside around us - and occasionally, nature needs a helping hand. Recently, our site team responded to an unexpected call-out after some ducklings nearly fell down a drain on site.  With a bit of patience, some teamwork, and the mother duck providing critical oversight, the family were reunited and the duck family continued their waddle around the site. #FCDOServices #ItAllMatters  #MiltonKeynes #CivilService  Image description: A duck and ducklings walking on a road next to some bushes.
