✈️ Congratulations to Captain Brodlie on Achieving Command! ✈️ We're delighted to celebrate Captain David Brodlie on achieving Command with DHL Air (UK) – a fantastic career milestone. Dave was joined on this special journey by First Officer Oliver Wedgbury and Captain Carl Threadgold, who had the honour of presenting his fourth stripe following a recent BFS–EMA sector. Dave reflected on his journey since joining DHL Air (UK) Ltd. in 2023, and shared: "DHL Air (UK) has given me the opportunity to fly to unique destinations all over the world. I've had so many great experiences so far, from flying racehorses to Bahrain, to eating incredible steak in Almaty, Kazakhstan! However, my most memorable flight has must be crossing the equator for the very first time on a flight between Hong Kong and Sydney. Sharing all of this with great crew really makes the job truly satisfying." Congratulations once again, Captain Brodlie, on this achievement. We were delighted to recently welcome a group of aspiring women aviators to our East Midlands Airport site in partnership with Elevate(her) Aviation. Being proud to support Elevate(her), it was fantastic to host so many talented and ambitious women for a Q&A session, followed by a behind-the-scenes tour of our hangar and aircraft operations. Elevate(her) is dedicated to increasing the percentage of women across all aviation careers globally by informing, educating and inspiring women to achieve their ambitions within the industry. The passion and curiosity displayed throughout the visit was wonderful to see. Many were fascinated by the scale and complexity of our operation, and several shared that they are keen to join the industry once they gain the necessary experience. Others left feeling motivated to continue working towards their licences and aviation goals. We're delighted to congratulate Alexander Hadley on graduating from Loughborough University and achieving not only their degree, but also a Diploma in Professional Studies following the successful completion of their placement year with DHL Air (UK) Ltd. We're especially pleased that this is not the end of their journey with us. In August, Alex will be joining us full-time as a Ground Operations Officer – Projects, where we know that they will continue to build on the skills and experience they've gained throughout their studies and placement. 💚 Supporting Samaritans Awareness Day 💚 Today, our DHL Air (UK) Ltd team came together to mark Samaritans Awareness Day by wearing green and heading out for a wellbeing walk along the airport trail. It was a great opportunity to step away from our desks, enjoy some fresh air, connect with colleagues, and take a moment to focus on the importance of mental wellbeing. Conversations, movement, and time outdoors can all make a positive difference to how we feel, and it was fantastic to see so many colleagues getting involved. We were also joined by a very special guest, Jack the dog 🐾, who was a welcome addition to the walk and brought plenty of smiles along the way. Sometimes it's the simple things; a walk, a conversation, and a wagging tail that can help brighten the day. Most importantly, today was an opportunity to support the incredible work of the Samaritans, who are there 24/7 for anyone who needs someone to listen. It's a reminder that we all have a role to play in looking out for one another, checking in with colleagues, friends and loved ones, and creating spaces where people feel comfortable talking. ✈️ Congratulations to Captain Benton on Achieving Command! ✈️   We're delighted to celebrate Captain Adam Benton on achieving Command with DHL Air (UK) – a fantastic career milestone.   Adam was joined on this special journey by First Officer Adam Roberts and Captain Matt Galley, who had the honour of presenting his fourth stripe following a recent LAX–EMA sector.   Since joining DHL Air (UK) Ltd. in 2023, Adam has flown both the Boeing 767 and 777 fleets. Reflecting on his journey so far, he shared: "I've been lucky to have some memorable flights at DHL Air (UK) Ltd. The highlights include seeing the Northern Lights en route to New York, viewing Mount Everest between Hong Kong and Delhi, and crossing the Pacific Ocean for the first time. It's been great to share the memories with a fantastic group of people, with hopefully many more to come!"   Congratulations once again, Captain Benton, on this achievement. On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of welcoming a cohort of aspiring Aircraft Engineers to our East Midlands Hub for an apprenticeship assessment centre!   It’s always very rewarding to see candidates challenging themselves, showcase their capabilities, and take the first steps towards a rewarding and fulfilling career with us.
