OPINION: Why universities need real connection in a hybrid world "Universities are centred by place – the historic architecture, cutting-edge laboratories, and the vibrant, physical buzz of a campus community. Yet, behind the scenes, the way university staff work has radically shifted. Since Covid days, like many other sectors, we have embraced the flexibility of hybrid schedules, digital workflows, and virtual meetings. I’m not sure without Covid, we would have ever even deemed this possible and while students are encouraged to embrace the full experience of campus life, many areas of a university still operate in a largely hybrid operating model. The benefits are invaluable in increasing efficiency and work-life balance, but it does quietly threaten the ability to embed a culture led by a shared vision and goals." 🔗 Read more from Jo Kareer, deputy head of internal communications at University of East London https://lnkd.in/df-23t8n

OPINION: Why your strategy might die in the AI-first intranet "For decades, strategy communication was human-first. People read it, made sense of it, passed it on. In 2026 it’s different. AI reads your content before your employees do, summarises it and serves it back through a chatbot or a search box. And increasingly, AI helps create the strategy in the first place. On stage at a recent communications conference, I ran an example. A company announces a radical shift to a subscription model. Press release, intranet article, manager briefing, all drafted with AI. Then I asked the same AI to summarise them. Slightly smoothed in the writing, fully flattened in the reading. What’s left, three times over, is the same wishy washy “we want to become more agile and customer-focused.” The actual strategy shift was almost completely gone." 🔗 Read more from Kevin Hähnlein, head of marketing and strategic advisory at Staffbase https://lnkd.in/g6VKxxUN

"Christine Elliott joins the Teams call, with perfect punctuality, from her office in New York. Upon being reminded that this interview will be treading back over the paving stones of her early career, Elliott is unfazed. As chief corporate affairs officer at Moody’s Corporation, she is accustomed to public interest in her role and the scrutiny that accompanies it. While many shy away from journalists, armed with recording devices and impromptu questions, Elliott is unperturbed. Although her career – which spans corporate communications roles across some of the largest names in the financial sector – may seem linear, she started out at ABC News. Today, she still regards this early period as the most “impactful” of her career, not only in shaping her professional instincts but also in moulding her approach to communications." 🔗 With a career spanning journalism and some of the world’s largest financial institutions, Christine Elliott, chief corporate affairs officer at Moody's Corporation, reflects on a career shaped by an instinct for knowing what matters https://lnkd.in/eybU4xRf 🗞️ This article is from Communicate's print issue.
