How do you keep a renewable energy site connected without leaving critical systems exposed? 💡 Alexander Ball has written a new blog looking at how data diodes can help protect SCADA systems across solar and wind farms. He explores how data diodes allow data to be shared from SCADA systems to IT and cloud environments, without creating an inbound path to the systems themselves. Curious? • The Minnesota water attacks put internet-facing OT firmly back under scrutiny.   Attackers remotely accessed PLCs and changed their configurations, leaving some operators without visibility or control of connected equipment.   It shows how quickly a network connection can become an operational risk when it allows traffic to reach critical assets.   But removing connectivity altogether isn’t always practical. Operational data still needs to reach monitoring, reporting and analytics systems.   VARA OT allows that data to flow out through a hardware-enforced one-way connection, while physically preventing traffic from travelling back into OT.   The visibility stays, but the inbound route doesn’t.

  • A private network doesn’t always mean an isolated network❗ A recent attack on a Polish CHP plant is a good example.   Attackers gained access to a wind farm and then used a private cellular APN to reach the plant’s OT network. From there, they put Siemens PLCs into STOP mode.   No new vulnerability. No complicated route. The route was already there.   It’s a good reminder that when OT systems are connected, it’s worth looking closely at what can actually reach them.   That’s a big part of what we care about at 4Secure: keeping the connection you need, without opening up more than you intended.   Worth a read from The Hacker News: https://hubs.li/Q04sJccB0

  • Bernard Baker has digested The National Risk Register 2026 and identified five clear lessons for UK critical infrastructure: 🔗 Risks are increasingly interconnected 💻 Cyber threats can create physical disruption 🌦️ Climate change is amplifying infrastructure risk ⛓️ Supply chains remain a critical vulnerability 🛡️ Resilience depends on secure information sharing In our latest article, Bernard explores what these risks mean for CNI organisations, and why building resilience requires more than treating each threat in isolation. • There's something iconic about vintage travel posters ⚓. They represented confidence. Reliability. A joyful experience. The promise that you'd reach your destination safely.   We love this promise; it's one we make with every Cross Domain Solution.  And whilst we move data instead of passengers, the principle remains the same.    Today's naval operations rely on trusted data moving securely between ships, systems and security domains. The ability to share the right information, at the right time, to the right destination, without compromising security, is what keeps missions moving.   This is where TrustedFilter® comes in.   Share data. Protect operations. Stay connected.   And if you're wondering why we've suddenly embraced a vintage transport poster style... Keep an eye on this space. All will be revealed soon. 👀

What do cheesecake and Cross Domain have in common? More layers than you'd think. 🍰 Just like there's no standard cheesecake recipe, there's no standard Cross Domain architecture. Every deployment is built around the data, the use case, the threat model and the level of acceptable risk. Each layer has a distinct purpose. On its own, every layer can be justified. Together, they create a complete Cross Domain architecture. The art of Cross Domain isn't simply adding more layers. It's choosing the right layers, placing them in the right order, and ensuring they work together to enable secure, trusted data exchange. So, while today might be National Cheesecake Day, we'll stick to building layers that protect critical systems and drive mission success. #NationalCheesecakeday
