| Name: | Xaoqin "Rising Phoenix" Tsung |
|---|---|
| Birthdate: | May 9 |
| Location: | (states/regions/territories) |
Race: Drow, no clan/society
Class: Monk
Sex: Male
Age: physically indeterminate (presents as well-preserved young drow adult), between 3,400 and 3,500 years passed since resurrection
Status: independent, self-reasoning/intelligent Undead
Alignment: lawful neutral
Physical description:
- Standard average drow stats: dark-skinned, short silver hair, coal black eyes adorned with milky-white cataracts (eyes long dead before reanimation), sharp white teeth, slender and agile in frame, dextrous of hand, and well-muscled from martial arts and other temple-based physical trials and training;
- Wears temple-issued waraji (thick, cushioned leather sandals), rugged leather pants with various scratches and patches, an obi (hardy belt) fashioned from tough reeds with various dyed stripes stating rank and dan (martial art standing), a simple sleeveless leather shirt also with various tears and patches, and a lightweight dyed-grey monk's robe (with temple glyph on the front) covering all, torn in many places and slowly disintegrating at the lower hem due to years of extended exposure to the elements.
Notable traits:
- Mute, due to having tongue cut out earlier in life; therefore does not communicate verbally (if at all), relying on simple gestures and enhanced mental gifts, or lastly resorting to sign-language to communicate in relative detail. Understands spoken languages;
- Has standard kin's infra-vision, but does not shy away from the sun (having trained extensively under it);
- Due to undead nature, has no need to eat, drink or sleep (but will do so if required), cannot be poisoned or paralysed, but also tends to avoid contact with paladins or lawful-aligned clerics if possible;
- Due to monk training, does not use any weapons more complicated than a bo (staff) - wood only, no metal weapons - or a pair of tessen (war-fans), but prefers unarmed, hand-to-hand combat, ki-based battles, and/or martial arts, possessing a master's ability in each;
- Keeps obedient pet raven Zanthu usually perched on right shoulder, if not away on a reconnaissance mission for its master.
Quick history:
- Raised from a baby in a inter-racial temple on the surface, and uses the name(s) his sensei(s) bestowed on him; having lived outside the matriarchal society of the usual drow he has no ties or other compulsion to them;
- Sacrificed tongue as mark of honour and loyalty to the temple, and as a sign he would not talk of anything related to the temple to those outside it;
- After dying defending his temple in his 305th year, Rising Phoenix fulfilled his foresighted naming when a passing necromancer resurrected him from the battlefield which for reasons even now are still being revealed, earning an intriguing legacy of self-preservation and enhanced mental gifts and awareness imbued since resurrection;
- Known only as his use-name "Rising Phoenix", but also responds to related aliases (as non-verbal communication can be difficult at times) out of politeness: never voluntarily reveals true-name;
- After spending over two decades' meditation in a 'haunted' forest, has taken up recent residence in the major island city of Delros, living at and employed as a doorwarden for well-respected inn titled The Crown and Scythe, owned by former woodlands elf Lady Linidir, and her half-human son and ex-rogue Gareth, earning a somewhat tarnished reputation in the city outside the inn's loyal and/or grateful regulars;
- Has spent over the last three millenia wandering the lands, hopefully to run into another brother of the temple of Tsung, however the chances that someone else has lived as long as he has are increasingly bleak.
