Thought I would do this one because I thought it would (a) be difficult and (b) be good for me.

LIST THREE (or more) THINGS YOU LIKE ABOUT YOURSELF.

  1. I am not malicious. I don't wish harm on anyone and I don't understand the appeal of revenge. I'm like a little mouse who just wishes everyone could get along. Most of my fic is based on the tenant 'if these people had just been treated decently in the first place, they would not have become villains.' I do understand the necessity to stand up against evil, with force if necessary, but even now it makes me sad that it should ever come to that.

  2. At the same time I am naturally protective. I will put myself between people and those trying to hurt them, and I will be violent about it if necessary. (It never has been necessary so far.) But boy do I have an icy fury in me if I see someone being mistreated. Something in me just takes over and I gain all the courage I normally don't have. I do not feel bad about this despite (1.) because they didn't have to be jerks, so you know, FAFO.

  3. I was very self conscious and shy as a child, and I still am really but I have learned not to let that get in the way of doing things I think I will enjoy. I'm 60 and very fat, and clumsy/ungainly. I sometimes feel utterly ridiculous among the belly dancers, but I love to dance, so I'm dancing. And dancing involves going out in front of audiences and putting on a performance, so I make myself look like I'm confident and I go out there and put on a performance - and I love it. I'm pleased that I can set that aside and do the things I want to do anyway.

I am trying to make a poster for my strongest held opinion on hockey: they goalies should serve their own penalties. Why? Because it's cute.

Sadly, it's turning out very Graphic Design Is My Passion )

Someone is having a very normal reaction to our new library having gender neutral bathrooms. I did not run into the van's driver, but I heard reports and those reports where to put as much distance between you and him as possible. Basically, if you see this guy, be elsewhere.

* And another hour long interview that seems very worth my time just dropped. I still haven't finished the What Chaos interview with Robbie. Just need to take all the HR content a sip at a time. Well, not all the content. I don't need to see all ten thousand promo vids, but all the content that I want to get to is going to last me a whiiiiille.

* For most of the season the Kraken had a lot of top players in the Injured Reserve list. We aaaaalmost have everyone back except Murray. Which means we might be able to do something wacky called 'play a game with the roster we intended for this season'.

But the downside is returning players means we need at least one person off the roster, and only a few can do so without waivers. Hockey talk )

Sens could easily have a large chunk of the fastest growing demographic in hockey fall in their lap. Just, a giant pile of money fall in their laps, and they are working hard to make sure it doesn't happen.

The Sens, on top of everything else, signed a famous homophobe this morning. As a goalie, even!

Spoilers for, uh, the synopsis of the upcoming Heated Rivalry sequel )

Well, I came back from Seattle to a solid week's worth of life admin and chores chores chores. Bleh. Some of this was self-inflicted (the year is over, how much did I spend in 2025?), but January is also the time all our insurance needs to be renewed. Annual memberships of all kinds. The cat is due for a vet appointment, I had to set up and pay for and calendar all my circus classes, the cats and squirrels all needed new food ordered, and I really wanted to get back to figuring out how the newest condo association account was working. Speaking of which, how about the lockbox with emergency keys that I'd wanted to install, and what about the new doorknob and weatherstripping for the cottage tenant? How about every damn thing in the house wanting new batteries? Staaaaaahp.

So that's why I didn't get any video editing or sewing done this week. :( I was, however, a champ about the chores. Several other good things happened:

  • Really good week of circus overall. Scraping the rust off from the break I took, mostly, but also making progress. Especially good progress on hand-to-hand, which has been eluding me and my base for a long time and is now starting to really click again. We are sometimes starting to go in, hold it and have me come back to his shoulders, instead of taking the long drop to the ground. I did have one rough landing today and I hope my ankle forgives me by tomorrow, but overall it's been really good and feeling safer.

  • Five year sqr-versary with my squirrel! How has it been five years!? We had a good dinner at Saltie Girl to celebrate, the day after, after watching the bug play his cello in a David Bowie tribute concert which was also really excellent. And on the day of, we showed up to Friday morning coffee wearing the same Psylo shirt... so that was disturbingly cute. We put together a new Floof Bingo card for 2026 to give us ideas of things to do on dates.

  • I got to pet otters with [personal profile] motyl! They were super adorable and very impolite, and one of them bit me due to her excitement over a shrimp. (Yes, I do empathize, and yes I'm fine.) It's hard to settle on one picture of them because they moved too fast, but here's one showing their thicc little tails:

I'm hoping to have a few days of being more creative.

Challenge 3: Write a love letter to fandom. It might be to fandom in general, to a particular fandom, favourite character, anything at all.

If it wasn't for the power of neurodivergence transformative fandom I wouldn't have met my fiancé? Sey followed me on Tumblr around eleven years ago after I wrote some fic with seir fave character (Earth-2 Harry Wells from the Flash CW s2), we started chatting over Tumblr messages, and never stopped :)

(It'll be eight years of being in a queerplatonic relationship this June, assuming things continue to go well.)

Challenge 4: Rec the contents of your last page - any website you like.

The pet site I mentioned in my second Snowflake post, Flight Rising

It looks interesting.
