I actually was planning to write about that, more from a Philip and Henry perspective, with the others around of course, but it is on my "once you FINALLY finish your long fic" list... such great potential for conflict and differing views, and of course the hockey game...

I love that Philip and Henry are so into it--and it's perfectly possible that Henry only got into it because of that. Not necessarily of course--ice hockey was always big in my town even before 1980, but it's possible that Henry got really inspired after that, and I can easily see Philip enjoying it with him despite secretly rooting for Russia. And Elizabeth being just really confused by him again.

Not exactly what you had in mind, but here's a drabble I had to write when I read this comment:

Henry jumped from the couched, decked out in red, white, and blue, and screamed at the top of his lungs in excitement. “WE WON! WE WON!” he screamed and Philip cheered with him while Paige rolled her eyes and covered her ears. Elizabeth half forced a smile and gestured for Henry to calm down, but she gave him a genuine hug of happiness. It was almost worth the loss to see her son so happy.

The win was all the kids talked about. Henry slaughtered his way through Russian surnames and Paige giggled about how stunned the Soviets had looked. Elizabeth pushed her son towards the bathroom to brush his teeth that night, reminding him that the Soviets still had a chance to medal and the teams had both played very well.

When she walked into her bedroom she found Philip sitting on his side of the bed, hands curled into fists in his hair. “Philip?” she asked and put a hand on his shoulder. His muscles were clenched tightly and she rubbed his shoulder automatically. “The loss?”

“How could we lose?” he whispered hoarsely. “How am I going to pretend to be so happy about this at work?”

Normally she felt indifferent to hockey, but this time she felt the loss just as strongly. She pulled him into a hug like she did when for Henry when his youth team lost and kissed his temple.

She could have been mistaken, but the next time orders came in from the center, Philip seemed especially eager and enthusiastic about it, as if this mission could counteract the loss of a gold medal.

That is fantastic. Poor Philip. This is canon for me now. In some small way the US government paid for that win!

I've never written something that was someone's head canon before, I'm so glad you liked it!

(I watched Miracle with my mom and later got an autograph from Jim Craig and a photo op with him. My mom was on the edge of her seat for the game in the film, despite having watched it back when it happened. We were both cheering and excited until I saw the sad Soviets and then she was the only one cheering. Those poor guys looked like they'd just watched a pet die.)

Treon, I love it! What a great surprise to wake up to this morning! I have no skill for vidding and could never make something like this and I love that this will be something great to watch whenever the show is in a bad place or I'm starting to despair over its chances of renewal :)

Thank you!

Prompt: Parent-Teacher Conferences

More detailed prompt: Henrickson had imagined the conference about Paige Jennings would be easy. What he hadn't imagined was that Mrs. Jennings obviously thought he was an idiot.

My 3 stories

I have been thinking about writing fiction with these highlights, bud did not get to it yet.

Prompt/Request: Philip/Elisabeth are arrested long after Cold War ended and they were decommissioned because somebody in Moscow stole old documents and sold it to press or some American agency got theirs fingers on it somehow. They would know they were agents, but nothing else (i.e. they do not have the actual information about operations, killings and so on.)

Characters: Philip, Elisabeth, Henry, Paige, boyfriends, girlfriends

I Would Like: Somewhat toned down story in the sense: yes, okay, they did it, but it was so long ago and nobody living remembers anything anymore, it even does not metter anymore, so we know you did it but we are not going to do anything about it other that let you know and maybe kick you little.

I Don't Want: Treacherous behavior.

------------

Prompt/Request: The killing of Martha. Everybody knows that Martha must die. She is living on borrowed time. So what happens when her usefulness expire?

Characters: Martha, Jennings
I Would Like: Drama, bittersweet death
I Don't Want: That Martha would actually survive.

------------

Prompt/Request: When watching the last episode of 1. season I was thinking that Stan should hit Philip. Or more likely that the probability would be in favor to hitting Philip and not Elisabeth.
Characters: Stan, Philip, Elisabeth
I Would Like: Death scene, aftermath
I Don't Want: I am open to ideas.

Prompt/Request: A crossover between The Americans and Harry Potter
Characters: Harry, Philip, Elizabeth

Basic summary: In 1981, the Jennings family are touring England, ostensibly as it was the off-season and Philip said it was the only time he could score first-class tickets for almost sixty percent off. (In reality, Zhukov wants to meet them secretly and do it in a way that doesn't trigger US INS flags)

In some believable way, they become crucial intermediaries in getting Harry placed with a British illegal family. Unbeknownst to the Center, they've been having trouble conceiving and Harry's presence would be very convenient all round: The Dursleys rid themselves of a baby they never wanted, and the Brits get a child they can train up for "the cause". Philip and Elizabeth get to see more than London, while Paige and Henry are mystified at the sudden willingness of their parents to leave them in their hotel room for 12 hours.
