The rules are as follows: Go to page 7 of your WIP, go to the seventh line, and share seven sentences. Then tag 7 people who you know will see this to do the same.

Because I'm a rebel with anxiety, I'm not going to tag anyone.
This is from my rewrite of "Scenes from Another Life" (why I'm rewriting what I've posted so far is a long story; ask if you're curious):
Scenes from Another Life (Baseball RPF, Tim Lincecum/Buster Posey, Establishment AU)
(if I were that kind of writer, the next sentence would be "little did he know how much his worlds were about to collide." Fortunately, I'm not.)

Around them, similar scenes are being played out. Buster sees Kyle kissing one of his new owner's boots and over in a corner, a big man is giving Cassandra a quick spanking. After spending Christmas in the stifling normality of Leesburg, the whole scene is surreal, like Buster's on another planet or a movie set. "C'mon," he says again, more to himself than Tim.
Bum and Brandon are nowhere to be seen when Buster leads Tim out of the showroom, but he pauses and says his hellos to a few people.
"That was quite the bidding war," Molly Knight says. Her presence doesn't throw Buster off as much as it did the first time he saw her at the club, but he feels an echo of his earlier feeling. When worlds collide, he thinks.

I'mma level with you....
Dec. 7th, 2018 10:19 pmI'm not sure you can go home again. Dreamwidth feels so much more interactive than Tumblr even though it's mostly text and there's no reblogging. I often felt that I wasn't interacting with the community here enough and that's one of the reasons I stopped posting. Someone over on Tumblr said that we're all there because it's okay to just shout into the void, and that really struck home because that's pretty much all I've felt I had the mental energy for.
And yet...I've missed this place. So idk, can you go home again if all you're capable of is hiding in the basement and occasionally wandering up to opine about something?
I guess I'll find out.

Not Quite NaNo and fic
Nov. 8th, 2014 10:07 pmSo I had a brutal headache this afternoon. It's died down some, but I've gotten no writing done. On the other hand, I tidied up Chapter 8 of "I've Traveled all this Way for Something" and posted it, so that's something.
I might do a little writing tonight, but my totals will be combined with tomorrow's numbers.
So there was this meme on tumblr and usually I don't cross post but this is a fic meme, so i figured why not?
post a single sentence from each WIP you have (or as many as you want to pick). no context, no explanations. no more than one sentence!
( many sentences! )

Not Quite NaNo
Nov. 8th, 2014 03:48 amI didn't get much done on the 6th, but today was good. So my count for the 6 & 7th is 2747. That puts my month's total so far at 10,008. I'm still behind but more importantly, I wrote a ton tonight and I finished Chapter 8 of the Est fic. This will actually slow me down, because since I'm still planning on posting chapters as they're written, I'll need to spend some time editing. But Nancy and I are going to do the "go to the cafe and write" thing on Sunday which should help.
Completely fucking awful night last night--I wasn't as careful as I should be about late night food and my acid reflux acted up like crazy. It's been a problem since I had my gallbladder out--holy fuck 12 years ago--but it's been getting worse. Yay getting older.
I hardly wrote yesterday either, which I kind of blame on the deadline thing. I can work to a deadline, but not like this. :( Also, I fucking got stalled on the fic. Obviously for the best of reasons--playoff baseball--but I need to get that hectic drive back. Without, you know, triggering a manic episode.
I just heard an empty water bottle hit the floor downstairs and yelled, "get off the counter" like Og was actually going to a) understand what I said, and b) actually get off the counter. Cats, man.

Not Quite NaNo and time passing and things
Nov. 5th, 2014 04:29 pmLast night Nancy mentioned that she's been here in California with me for ten years now. Actually, we moved her here in early September, but still.... Ten years. That's the longest I've lasted with anyone and it's been fairly smooth sailing. It's kind of funny because we were both "thank you for putting up with me" even though we do really well well when you consider the baggage and health issues.
Ten years. That's pretty awesome.
* * *
This year I decided to try reaching the NaNo word count goal, but not work on a specific, new, story. Mostly I've been working on the Est fic, but I wrote a quick thing set in the Blood Histories series and I'm also working on a fic with Nancy.
As of yesterday (last night/early this morning) I'm at 6024 words, which is about 800 less than I should be at. Overall, though, I'm pretty pleased with my progress.
* * *
Because I'm writing, I'm not reading as much, so doing a regular Wednesday reading thing is probably out for a while. I kind of got hung up on the English Civil War for a little while, so I just finished "Cromwell to Cromwell: Reformation to Civil War" by John Schofield. It was pretty interesting; he looked at how history went from Thomas Cromwell who would probably never had dreamed of rising against Henry VIII to Oliver, who helped depose and execute his king. It was kinda dry but also interesting.
I don't have anything queued up to read right now.
* * *
I haven't done much cooking lately either; my anxiety keeps telling me I'll ruin dinner, which...so what? I mean I probably won't and if I do, it's not the fucking end of the world. But...try arguing with anxiety.
So that's me.

I only wish....
Oct. 16th, 2014 09:14 pmI really wish the Orioles had won the ALCS because a orange and black World Series would have been awesome.
But...we had a game straight from the movies. Ups and downs and unlikely heroes. A walk off home run from a guy who honestly thought about quitting earlier this year because he thought he'd never make the big leagues again and....
THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT!!!
For the third time in five years, the Giants are going to the World Series!!!!
still incoherent here

[[Over 40,000 words in a little under a month. The hell?]]
Chapter Six of “I’ve Traveled All this Way for Something” is up at AO3.
Chapter Six: Learning As You Go
"You wanna try this?"
Buster's been watching them play for about an hour and while he thinks he's got the general idea, he knows he's nowhere near as good as they are. "I'd just slow you down, Sir."
"I give it another week or so of him watching us play," Lincecum says. "Then he'll be kicking our asses."
"Politely," Hunter says.
"And very respectfully, Sir."
He's not here to be funny but it's still nice to be able to joke and have them laugh. "Why don't you get your respectful ass over here," Lincecum says.
"What the fuck? You asshole, I'm ahead by four runs, so, what, all of a sudden you've got the urge to play with him?"
"Dude," Lincecum says as Buster kneels in front of him. "It's not fucking real time. The game's not going anywhere."
"Yeah, well, neither is Buster."
"Oh he's going somewhere all right," Lincecum says. "Over my lap."
