FRIENDS ONLY.
fanfic, mixes and the occasional meta post are public.

Look here...

If I were still writing fanfic - and I'm not ruling it out completely in the future - this would be my new ship (to join my otp Beyoncé/Jay-Z and new crush Olivia Pope/Fitzgerald Grant). Lord, I'd write the hell out of it. I MEAN-

Raven Symoné and her rumored boo AzMarie Livingston.

Who's watching Scandal? It is absolutely my favorite new show. I just end up keysmashing on twitter when it's on. Not perfect, but omg so good.

Have to say, though, I'm surprised but not really that we're five episodes into the season and there *still* isn't a fandom presence for the show. It's female-led and driven, created by another woman, with several women and men in a diverse cast. It passes the bechdel test. So, where are people talking about it?

And don't tell me it's too flawed. Fandom loves that diamond in the rough shit. Kerry fucking Washington stars in it. What's the deal?

I wonder how quickly gun legislation would change if black people began to collectively arm ourselves. Or do we not belong in that space either?

Man, the things some of y'all white women do in the name of feminism. Please fucking chill.

Short summary: a feminist writer takes it upon herself to pen a letter to newborn Blue Ivy Carter wherein she hypersexualizes an infant as a means for her strawman argument about her famous parents, AND makes condescending/concern troll directives to said parents on gender and race as if that's not their fucking lived experiences.

A lot of white feminists react favorably (understatement?)

This exploded on my twitter TL last night and karnythia does a great job of expressing my feelings on the matter: Dear white women who think you mean well..."

Just to bring this full circle, the author says she's listening to the critical comments she's received and is formulating a response. However, there's been talk that this isn't the first time she's done something shady like this, so idk. Perhaps stop trying to tell black women about their own lives.

Yuletide reveal was yesterday but I was incredibly sick, so I'm doing this today. I wrote a silly librarian AU for [livejournal.com profile] virkatjol. My recipient enjoyed it which in turn made me happy that I took a risk. It got away from me too, ending up at just over eight thousand words but it was fun to write. I have no regrets.

I guess the butterflies are still there [Ben Browder/Claudia Black, AU, Farscape RPF] - NC-17/M whatever. Adult things.
summary: She mentally listed all the reasons she shouldn't date Ben Browder, and none of them prevented her from saying yes.

Let's discuss yuletide, shall we?

I received an AMAZING Princess and the Frog fic entitled JUST A LITTLE TWO-STEP. It's Tiana/Naveen (obvs) and it gives me so many feelings!!! I love that the author included both Eudora and Lottie, and has Naveen being his hilarious, charming and lovable self. And TIANA TIANA TIANA.

Anyway, read it.

Umm... so that brings me to my contribution. Which I cannot give any clues about, but feel free to guess. It's not a fandom I've written in lately, if that means anything. :)

Dear Yuletide author:

Thank you for signing up for yuletide! More specific details on my requests are under the cuts below but as the saying goes, optional details are optional. If you get inspired to write something else then go for it. I'm sure it'll be AMAZEBALLS.

For starters, I love fic with a nice balance of angst and humor. Plot is awesome but not necessary, as is sex. Also, here's the thing – I love women characters.

Now, on to my requests:

Hip Hop RPF )

Southland )

Princess and the Frog )

A few other things to keep in mind is that I'm interested in stories with: snarky banter, laughter, lack of personal space, intimacy, awkward moments, lust, drunken confessions, groping, multi-positional realistic sex, long and deep kisses, personality clashes, angst, hurt/comfort, non-traditional gender roles, longing, teasing and love.

Not so interested in: rape, incest, character bashing, humiliation, character death, love triangles, isms that have no basis in canon/the source text, and making a person's skin color analogous to foods (for example: chocolate/mocha/caramel skin).

To sum up, please have fun with your assignment and ultimately write something that you would also enjoy. I hope this was helpful!

Well it's been a minute since I've posted anything, and it just so happens that I have fic. I wrote this for [livejournal.com profile] lalastrange as a belated birthday ficlet. Feedback here or at AO3 is appreciated.

Yo, if you're on tumblr and you dig Regina King then please follow and submit pics and shit (lolol as if I don't have enough online obligations):

♥ ♥ ♥ kingregina.tumblr.com ♥ ♥ ♥

That's all for now, thanks.

Listen, LISTEN..

I'm not one of those Beyoncé fans who states things like, "your fave would never _____" in comparison to B. I'm just not. All I will say is that:

Bey SLAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYED tonight.

And this, from B's thank you speech: "I love me some Jay-Z." YAAAAAASSSSS gave me life! OTP ♥

So, remix reveals. I totally called it when I stated during a conversation with someone that the person who wrote my story was not a Farscape fandom regular and I was right! [livejournal.com profile] nancybrown wrote the amazing Leave Me Here (The Gone So Far to Get Back Home Remix).

As for me, I got the chance to write about one of my favorite canon AUs in FS, while exploring characters and themes I've always wanted but somehow never found the time to actually write. Read below the cut or at ao3. Thanks to everyone who's already read and left comments! It's greatly appreciated.

Just wanted to make a quick post noting two and a half things:

1) After driving nine hours from North Carolina I'm finally back home with electricity and hot water and Internet access (though, no food. Fridge had to be emptied when the power went out days ago, and there's no way I'm going to the grocery store for at least another one to two days; the crowds are ridic). I have to return to work tomorrow and I'm grateful to be returning to a normal routine.

2) Remix happened while I was elsewhere, and the story that was written for me is amazing: Leave Me Here (The Gone So Far to Get Back Home Remix) [Farscape!!].
I've had so many other things going on lately that I feel guilty about not linking this when the archive went live. I've only been able to read it once, and it was on my phone, but my remixer did a fantastic job and I love this John so much. Also, I don't have a clue who wrote this. I AM INTRIGUED, ANON.

2.5) I obviously wrote a remix story too. Feel free to guess which one I wrote.

I feel like I should post because I haven't in a few days and a lot has happened. So, here goes:

1. I live in northern Alabama (Huntsville, to be specific).
2. My region was among those affected by the tornado outbreaks on April 27.
3. I am safe and thankfully there was no structural damage done to my home.
4. The same cannot be said for others in Alabama, so please consider donating if you have the means to do so: North Alabama/Tennessee Valley Red Cross | Mid Alabama region Red Cross | general AL RC listing

Thank you. ♥ ♥ ♥

Still around! Link me to your favorite RPF fics, please; or, fics you've read recently that you enjoyed very much. I'm not particular about pairing or canon, such as it is.

Thanks!

So:

--> TNT renewed Southland for a 10-episode fourth season! This show, man, I can't even pretend to be unbiased when I say that it is the business. Southland is my show - not like Farscape is forever my show in that I am fannishly obsessed with it, but it is my show in that I will talk it up with anyone willing to listen, and quietly flail on twitter or in email because Regina King did the damn thing once again, and why isn't she getting the attention she deserves... etc, etc. Yeah, so. Clap for them.

--> Remix assignment: WELP

--> Shit, I need to write something, or I really will be doomed wrt remix and spacebigbang. FFFFFUUUUUUUUU

Oh, word?

Ok, but see, Southland is the best show on tv right now. I CANNOT EVEN.

And Lydia Adams slays all.

eta: pls beware of spoilers for ep 3x09 in the comments of the LJ post.
sugargroupie: ([misc] shadows - esperanza spalding)
I suppose it was inevitable that I'd forget about LJ/DW entirely, since I've gotten out of the habit of posting here. Which is odd, considering I have more than a few fannish commitments - more than I had around this time last year.

Anyway, the purpose of this post is to request story recs of het daddy!kink fics. There doesn't need to be a significant age difference between the two characters, but more or less a willingness for them to slide into those respective roles. I KNOW there's got to be some quality fic out there, right?

ION, how are you guys liking that new Adele? It was just released today in the states, but lolol I've had it for a while. I love it. Anybody want a download?
sugargroupie: ([farscape] butch & sundance - john/aeryn)
Oh man, so you have until tomorrow to drop prompts for Porn Battle XI at LJ or DW. I'm feeling pretty confident that I'll be able to write something for it this year. Pretty much in general I'm feeling like my writing output will be better this year than last.

Let's see... so I wound up lamenting on twitter the fact that nobody told me about [livejournal.com profile] spacebigbang until [personal profile] ladyjax reminded me that she had in fact talked about it because she signed up for it. Mhmm. I'm signing up, is what I'm saying. And I'm very much leaning towards Beyonce and Jay-Z in spaaaaaaaaaace, lmao. Clearly that's what I'm about these days. My life, my choices.

(Runner up fandom is Farscape because there's this story sitting on my hard drive that I desperately want to finish and this might be the challenge that'll make me complete it.)

But before I sign up, I made a promise to myself to finish my Lydia-centric Southland fic for [livejournal.com profile] picfor1000 first. I'm almost finished, I just need some free time that is not occupied by my obsession of finishing this Jay/B fic. I really need more fandom friends who are into hip hop stars fucking on a regular basis, and the Kanye's who love them.
