What is "Persona"?
▶ Persona is a popular video game series created by Atlus. It revolves around "Persona, a manifestation of a person's personality referred to as a 'mask' for an individual to use to face hardship". The games are steeped in mythology from around the world and Carl Jung.
I know nothing of Persona. Will I still enjoy this game?
▶ Yes! We're doing our best for this to be both an homage to Persona and the Megami Tensei series in general, but also for this to be a game that someone who doesn't know the series can join in and enjoy from day 1. We've made leveling up easy with two options and the more you post, the more you're rewarded. You're here to have fun, we're here to have fun!
What canon(s) can I apply from?
▶ We accept OUs, AUs, Game Imports (up to 3 previous games), Fandom OCs, and Original Characters. As long as we have enough information, and you give us a great application, there should be no problems.
If my character comes from a Game Import, can I update the character?
▶ Yes and no! You will be allowed to canon update from the original source material (the canon they first came from and so on), but you could not update from the current RP game you are playing them in.
What are your policies for and how do you go about doing canon updates in-game?
▶ You submit a small form notifying the mods that you are character updating and if the major Arcana will change, along with their new point, their personality & power changes (if any). Once it is accepted, you can decide how the update is performed. They can return home and disappear for a few days or simply dream of the canon update that night.
During the time they are back home, they will forget about their time here. Once they return to Hinoto-Ri, they will remember everything.
Can you apply for more than one character?
▶ One each week, up to a total of 6 characters. You may request additional slots if you show sufficient activity.
What happens if my character dies here?
▶ Death is permanent in the game. There are no second chances (unless we say so). This can also mean that in that time stream, the character never returned home, which could be devastating in some situations (but that is how Shin Megami Tensei rolls in general anyway - ON A BED OF YOUR TEARS).
You may, however, reapply the same character from a different time stream (aka in another universe that isn't doomed like the one with the character being dead).

What can my character bring with them?
▶ A lot of things, actually! Most of their items and even vehicles and robots are allowed. For more information, see the [ENTERING THE WORLD] guide. It has all the information you need. Keep in mind that everyone's first place of residence is an assigned apartment bedroom. Also keep in mind the following notes;
- Items must belong to the character (the outfits they wear, hair products, etc, etc...)
- Weapons they are known to wield in canon
- They are allowed one ridiculously large item if it is with them when they are taken (so a Gundam or a spaceship they own) keeping in mind if it's bigger than a city it will be scaled down and may malfunction from time to time.
Can I apply with a reversed Arcana for my character?
▶ If you think it fits them perfectly, then YES very much so!
What happens if the moderators feel my character's skillset is unfairly scaled, is it just player judgement in that regard?
▶ It's a combination of both! First, the fact that most skills and spells have to be listed gives us a good idea. If we feel a character is too powerful, we will ask you to either tone down the powers OR to have the powers slowly come back as they gain levels.
Can I apply for a character that is already dead in my canon?
▶ Short answer: Yes.
Long Answer: There are a few options open to you. The first is bringing them a few minutes before they die, provided they aren't too damaged. Don't worry, the hospital staff will heal you up on arrival and you'll be fine after a few days of terrible hospital food.
Characters can also be applied post-death (and by extension, all ghosts / golems / robots / etc). When the spirit/soul is transferred from their world into this one, it will, however, be given a physical form. A character that died would show up looking like they did (possibly with post-death syndrome, reliving their last minutes in nightmares or having thoughts about it. Imagine knowing you're dying and suddenly you're not, basically...), a ghost would show up with a physical body, a robot will have a body that looks like its original one, imported characters from certain games (such as Tower of Animus) would have a body made for them, and so on.
However, if any character, no matter how they ended up here, have their physical link destroyed, they will be "dead" in this world and are unable to come back. While this is a lot less dramatic than having a character die in the City (potentially dooming the original timeline), it still means that for all intents and purposes, that character is gone from Hinoto-Ri's world forever, and the permadeath rules still applies to them.
What happens with talking animals or sentient giant robots? Will they be humanized upon arrival and how do the natives react?
▶ That will be entirely up to the player! The character can arrive in their original form, or be given a humanoid body that their spirit can live in for their stay here. Both have their advantages and disadvantages (size, hands, etc.) Moreover, considering the demon population, seeing these types of creatures is benign by now and most civilians won't even bat an eye.
Would it be possible to have a non-Persona series character to start with a generic persona AND then have their ultimate Persona be something derived from their own canon, and vice versa? Or do both Persona need to be from the same source?
▶ While they should be around the same source for the most part, it is doable! It would depend on many things (for example, a Persona 1 character's Persona is a Buddhist figure, and then his dead butler due to his attachment.) When in doubt, ask the mods!
Do the Persona have to be created from Persona game canon only?
▶ No, you can create Persona from just about any mythology you would like... and this does include canon mythology from your character's homeworld. A Pokemon Trainer, for example, could use the end level and legendaries as their Persona, if they wished. Just remember to make your initial and ultimate Personas with a similar theme!
My character can already summon Persona; do they have to start over like everyone else?
▶ No, they will start with an advantage depending on what part of the game they come from. Users that are from the start of the game are the same as everyone else, but if they are from endgame, they are Lvl 2 users and start with a Lvl 2 Persona. Anything in between will be decided by the mods depending on experience. Personas will have to fit the rules of Destiny Strings and may end up not 100% like those in canon.
Moreover, any character who was previously known as a 'wild card user' (P1&P2 cast, along with the P3 protagonist, the P4 protagonist and post-FES Aigis) will be able to use three Personas in Hinoto-Ri instead of just two like most other users.
Can I apply a resident of the Velvet Room?
▶ Yes, of course! They will be considered a previous Persona user. However, they will not be able to use their books to summon Personas like before, and will be limited to three Personas, like previous wild card users.

What ARE the Destiny Strings?
▶ The Destiny Strings are special strands that tie a character back to their homeworld. It's what allows a character to travel back to their homeworld as they please, and are only visible to people who have support Personas with the Destiny Strings skill. As of now, little is known about them.
What is outside of Hinoto-Ri if a character should decide they want to leave the city?
▶ Because of the disaster that nearly wiped out humanity, Hinoto-Ri is completely contained by a high-tech and magical force field, preventing anyone from leaving or entering. No matter how hard your character tries, they will not be able to breach the force field and leave the city, no city official will lift it for them, and no one will break through it for them. No one is sure what's outside of the city's perimeter, though everyone agrees that it's too dangerous to investigate.
For now.
How did my character get here?
▶ The dual entities of humanity in Physical form, Philemon (good) and Nyarlathotep (evil), have been holding a bet together for millennia regarding humanity's final outcome. Now with the fate of the world unknown, it seems the stakes are much higher. As this is now an all-or-nothing match, they have used their powers to bring others from different universes and worlds into this one to see what they will do... but that may not be all...
Where is my character staying?
▶ At the start of their stay, characters are given a government sanctioned apartment; it's tiny and very cramped as most Japanese apartments are, but it serves its purpose. There is a bed, a small kitchen and a bathroom. Laundry is located in certain levels of the building. If they find a job and work, larger apartment rooms can be rented.
How does my character call upon their Persona in Hinoto-Ri?
There are three known ways to summon:
Can I summon demons | enter contracts or contacts with them?
▶ As of December 2013, characters can enter contact with one demon. A demon summoning application is currently in the works by a few characters.

How does my character call upon their Persona in Hinoto-Ri?
There are three known ways to summon:
▶ Direct Summon: Because characters came into Hinoto-Ri via Philemon, by default, they call upon their Starter|Ultimate Persona using the method in the first two games, which is direct summoning. With a battle cry or name ("Let's go everybody!" "Persona!" "*insert Persona's name here*" "Help me!" etc.), bluish energy surges from the ground through them and their Persona appears above.
▶ Evoker Summon: Evokers are modified Guns that "shoot" a mixture of magic and the fear of actually shooting yourself. When used, they scare and trick the mind into extreme emotions which allow the Persona to come out. They are used in the Persona Duels both for the dramatics involved and because the summon is slightly faster than the method above. Apart from this, Evoker Summons are rare as getting the material needed - a plume of dusk - is a hard task in itself.
▶ Tarot Summon: Tarot Deck Cards are used for a character's secondary Persona. The card emerges from the sky and appears floating in front of the character with the Persona's Arcana displayed on it. To use it, characters break it, causing the energy to flow from the card into them, allowing the Persona to emerge. The method of breaking can vary from user to user (smashing it with a fist, using an object, shooting it). The card breaks like glass.
