The year is 2019. Tony Stark is twenty-five. It's been seven years since he stopped the Makluan invasion, and seven years since his identity as Iron Man went public. To all appearances, the young superhero has flourished in the global limelight. In between his armored escapades, Tony lives a life of unabashed extravagance and luxury, charming countless lovers - and investors. Stark International is more powerful and prosperous than ever.

But the life Tony lives in front of the cameras isn't the whole story. Balancing the pressures of being both Iron Man and the heir apparent of Stark International has taken its toll. His relationship with SHIELD remains cordial, but is becoming increasingly strained - Director Fury's attempts to bring Iron Man under SHIELD authority have not met with success. And now Tony's past has come back to haunt him, in the form of his nemesis and one-time friend, Gene Khan. The Mandarin.

But seven years is a long time to hold a grudge. Although Tony's feelings about Gene are as strong as ever, he has discovered that they are not quite so... hostile as they used to be. Maybe that saying about the thin line between love and hate is right after all.

The Mandarin is back. And Tony Stark's life just got a lot more complicated.
