hey
you should stop by your trap before people drop more spears on the guy you caught
[Yeah, uh, he's got two spears in him now.]
no subject
HOW MANY SPEARS HAVE THEY DROPPED ALREADY??
DID THE SPIKES NOT STAB OR SOMETHING
[He wasn't aware that, of all the parts of a trap that might fail, the pointy end of spikes might be the part not working. This is news to him!]
no subject
so now he's got one for each leg
[So the spikes totally stabbed, but now it's symmetrical.]
i'm pretty sure he's not a kidnapper though
just a guy who slept next to a spike trap
no subject
[For all that Barn guy cautioned that the pit was an idea that would surely lead to needless and misplaced injuries, Papyrus really didn't think it would happen that quickly! Why was this guy sleeping on the ground, instead of one of the many still-abandoned houses?? Happily, he's safe to groan in the privacy of the woods where no one can catch him acknowledging that maybe it was a little bit a mistake.]
SOUNDS LIKE HIS MISTAKE!!!
AND NOW HE'S GOTTEN OFF ON THE WRONG FOOT.
[Which someone helpfully corrected with a spear.]
no subject
and he told me about some card game everyone plays where he's from
so we're even
[Not how that works.]
no subject
[Was this guy explaining some card game superstition, that sleeping on the ground helps with it...?]
WAIT, IS THIS ONE OF LARK'S FRIENDS?
no subject
i think he's a new kidnappee
he thought i was from the card game
[A pretty calm reaction to seeing a skeleton, compared to how some of the others have reacted.]
no subject
[He's trying to imagine Sans posing for a photographer, or artist, or whatever process is involved in making pictures for card games with skeleton cards. It's easy to imagine him posing, as long as the pose was one of "asleep," but other than that...]
HEY, HANG ON.
IF HE'S A NEW KIDNAPPEE
DID THE KIDNAPPERS PUSH HIM AT THE BELL TO TEST FOR TRAPS??
[OH NO! He didn't imagine they might have outwitted his tactics in such a manner! Now he really needs to be on hand to get this not-birded card gamer starting back on the right feet.]
no subject
you'll have to ask him
[Sans thinks the guy just rolled over, though.]
no subject
NEVERMIND, I'LL ASK
[He doesn't want Sans relaying messages for him if he can help it, because his brother will surely do something ridiculous with it.]
WHAT SORT OF GUY IS HE?
MONSTER? HUMAN? SOMETHING ELSE?
[It doesn't make a big difference to how healing magic itself works, pushing the body to recombine the damaged bits as well as it can... But he's assuming this guy isn't a water or fire elemental or anything, to still be stabbed.]
no subject
i've been working on my impression of you
[But actually he's just going to wait for Papyrus and Papyrus can ask.]
he looks human to me
no subject
[He just said! And he doesn't want Sans doing his older brother affectionate teasing thing, and give this guy weird ideas about what he's like. Especially if he's not there to see just what this impression consists of.]
SO THE INJURIES... THEY'RE BLEEDING, RIGHT
ARE THEY THROUGH HIS BONES??
[He'll pick up the case in anticipation of a yes, because getting unfamiliar bone to heal right really is tricky - just look at his struggles getting Sans to heal after little injuries over the years! But the rest of humans hadn't seemed as difficult, from the healing he's tried so far. The weird sunlight drain will probably be all the difficulty he needs here.]
no subject
they're pierced all the way through
so probably they at least did a little bone breaking
[But Sans obviously hasn't checked. He's sitting above the pit and he has not gone down.]
I REALIZED KUJA WOULDA HAD THIS IDEA AGES AGO AFTER STATUE THREAD. november?? can be dec if'n u want
Papyrus~! How good I've caught you. A question has occurred. You're a white mage yourself. Ah-- capable of healing magic, that is. Would you.. want to learn a certain useful bit of magic from me? It has struck me as extremely necessary to share for reasons that will become quickly evident.
Dec, and I'm still not sure if it's possible for him to learn FF9 style magic :|a
Learn some useful magic...? What a generous offer! [Extremely necessary to share or no, he can audibly appreciate the effort. Kuja doesn't seem super inclined to sharing, as a rule, so it's worth rewarding.] I've always been one to pick up cool techniques wherever I can.
no subject
Excellent! Though, do bear with me -- my own magic's something I've just always.. [ he waves his hand in a little circle by one of his temples. ] --I never had to learn, so teaching will be interesting! But if it works out, more's the better.
Practicing what I have in mind will be a little tricky with all the snow on the ground, though... If there's nothing suitable here... We might have to practice on the island.
[ somehow he doubts sweet ol' Papyrus would be into the idea of him petrifying random animals to practice 'unthawing,' so they really needed to find a good plant to use. could just use a tree but... bit of a tall order for lesson 1. ]
no subject
A regular natural, huh?
[It's said a little teasingly, with a trace of envy - great as Papyrus is now, he put a lot of practice in his skills, especially the ones for the fine control not to injure his brother. Not one he regrets learning, by any means, but it took time.]
But what kind of magic is harder with snow around...? Not fire magic, right?
.[That notion gets him dubious in the way that the idea of island practice didn't - he is very visibly a skeleton, not a flame monster, here.]
no subject
It's a little spell called 'Break.' It's not hard to cast when it's cold out, exactly-- it's because of how we'll be using it.
You see, Break isn't actually what I wanted to teach you today. [ ooooor any day, that one's a little too dangerous for him to want to be handing out like a coupon ] It's just.. lighting the specific fire we want to put out. I want to show you how to fix what it does, because hopefully, it'll work when something similar happens again.
[ you haven't... said what it does, yet, Kuja. ]
no subject
[Nyeh heh heh, it's a theater joke. But seriously, he's giving a bit of a skeptical look after that name. Didn't Kuja open this conversation talking about healing magic? Don't tell him they're actually going to break bones to get Papyrus healing them, or something. They're harder to see and fix when they're on the inside!]
no subject
Not quite that.
It's not a very nice spell. [ he sure understands that now more than ever! well, time to spit out the important bit-- ] It turns things to stone. It's called Break, because, well.
[ Kuja's doesn't need to call attention to the three red, young feathers on his head for them to be noticeable right now. ]
Things do become more delicate in such a state. Meanwhile-- the spell I'll show you to counter it is called Stona.
action; December 25
Hey. [Sans pads up behind Papyrus and taps him in the spine with a present wrapped in brown butcher's paper. You take what you can get when you're looting houses and stores for supplies. It's small and soft; not something in a box.] Merry Gyftmas.
no subject
It probably lasted as much as two hours, before he woke and got bored and got up to do other things. By the time Sans rises, the previously plain tree will have little bone-looking decorations of various bits of trash, shaped by hand and settled in place.]
Hey, brother! Merry Gyftmas! [He accepts the gift with one hand, and gestures to the tree with the other.] Pretty nice, right?
[Also, there's a box under the tree now. Obviously previously used, but again, what they can get with the scavenging and looting.]
no subject
Sans's present to Papyrus definitely isn't wrapped neatly, though Sans certainly tried. It's not as messy as you might think a present from Sans would be. Sans did take the time to draw some little bones haphazardly on the paper. Inside is a knitted winter beanie with a flame pattern. Something like this, except the pattern isn't as neatly done as that. Sans only does crafts when he has to; the flames are kind of messy.]
no subject
[The box contains a previously torn white shirt, cunningly mended with dark fabric - the largest tear was replaced with a vertical bone-like shape, and then rough lettering spells out FOUND THIS HUMERUS.]
no subject
You're the best, bro. [Sans is going to put this shirt on immediately. Over top of his current shirt, like a weirdo.]
no subject
Don't tell me you're getting cold too. Who knows where we can find more hat material! [Or more pun material, because he is a generous sibling giving the gift of shirts he'll regret to see later.]
no subject
no subject
As long as they're not so jealous they start imitating it... [He hadn't considered this dread possibility before, and now he's having the slightest regrets about this gift. Good thing so many people are more into blood, murder, and demon summoning than old fashioned bone puns.]
